Surface Stripe

Abstract

A profiled traffic stripe, method of manufacture and apparatus for applying a traffic stripe to a surface comprising a comb gate for permitting marking compound to be released through a comb for a contoured or profiled traffic stripe.

1 . A surface stripe with a plurality of raised angled surfaces formed through the use of a comb. 
   
   
       2 . The surface stripe of  claim 1  wherein said surface stripe is a traffic stripe. 
   
   
       3 . The surface stripe of  claim 2  wherein said raised angled surfaces are substantially co-linear with said traffic stripe. 
   
   
       4 . The surface stripe of  claim 3  further comprising flat segments interspaced with segments of said raised angled surfaces. 
   
   
       5 . The surface stripe of  claim 4  where the said surface stripe comprises of a cold-hardening compound. 
   
   
       6 . The surface stripe of  claim 5  wherein the said raised angle surfaces comprise of glass beads. 
   
   
       7 . A surface stripe with a plurality of raised angled surfaces formed through the use of a comb in combination with a slideably mounted comb gate proximate said comb as to selectively occlude said comb to form flat segments interspaced with segments of said raised angled surfaces. 
   
   
       8 . The surface stripe of  claim 7  wherein said surface stripe is a traffic stripe. 
   
   
       9 . The surface stripe of  claim 8  wherein said raised angled surfaces are substantially co-linear with said traffic stripe. 
   
   
       10 . The surface stripe of  claim 9  where the said surface stripe comprises of a cold-hardening compound. 
   
   
       11 . The surface stripe of  claim 10  wherein the said raised angle surfaces comprise of glass beads. 
   
   
       12 . A surface stripe consisting of a linear stripe with a cross section that corresponds to a comb used with a tractive box and contains at least three raised angled surfaces. 
   
   
       13 . The surface stripe of  claim 12  wherein said surface stripe is a traffic stripe. 
   
   
       14 . The surface stripe of  claim 13  wherein said raised angled surfaces are substantially co-linear with said traffic stripe. 
   
   
       15 . The surface stripe of  claim 14  further comprising flat segments interspaced with segments of said raised angled surfaces. 
   
   
       16 . The surface stripe of  claim 15  where the said surface stripe comprises of a cold-hardening compound. 
   
   
       17 . The surface stripe of  claim 16  wherein the said raised angle surfaces comprise of glass beads.
