A process for the preparation of amorphous form of (S)-(+)-Clopidogrel besylate comprising: i. treating Clopidogrel base with benzene sulfonic acid in suitable solvent(s) selected from tetrahydrofuran, methyl isobutyl ketone, or their suitable mixtures; and ii. removing the solvent to obtain the amorphous form.
