Abstract

A topical skin care composition comprising kakadu plum extract or acai berry extract, or a combination of both, is disclosed. The composition can include a high oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) value. The composition can improve the skin's visual appearance, physiological functions, clinical properties, and/or biophysical properties.

1 . A topical skin care composition comprising:
 (a)  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract or  Euterpe oleracea  extract;   (b) a silicone containing compound selected from the group consisting of dimethicone and cyclomethicone; and   (c) a moisturizing agent selected from the group consisting of glycerin, butylene glycol, and propylene glycol,   wherein the composition is formulated for topical application to skin.   
   
   
       2 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , further comprising a vitamin selected from the group consisting of tocopherol and tocopheryl acetate. 
   
   
       3 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 2 , further comprising tribehenin, triethanolamine, isostearic acid, and sorbitan sesquioleate. 
   
   
       4 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 2 , further comprising titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. 
   
   
       5 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 4 , further comprising stearic acid, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed soy protein, and laureth 7. 
   
   
       6 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , further comprising an emulsifier selected from the group consisting of polysorbate 20 and polysorbate 80. 
   
   
       7 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 6 , further comprising titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. 
   
   
       8 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 7 , further comprising sodium hyaluronate and tribehenin. 
   
   
       9 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 6 , further comprising paraffin, copernicia cerifera wax, beeswax, stearic acid, glyceryl stearate, triethanolamine, lecithin, sorbitan laurate, propylene glycol laurate, and propylene glycol stearate. 
   
   
       10 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract. 
   
   
       11 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes  Euterpe oleracea  extract. 
   
   
       12 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract and  Euterpe oleracea  extract. 
   
   
       13 . A method of treating a skin condition comprising applying the topical skin care composition of  claim 1  to skin in need thereof, wherein topical application of the composition treats the skin condition. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the topical skin care composition further comprises a vitamin selected from the group consisting of tocopherol and tocopheryl acetate. 
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the topical skin care composition further comprises tribehenin, triethanolamine, isostearic acid, and sorbitan sesquioleate. 
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the topical skin care composition further comprises titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. 
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the topical skin care composition further comprises stearic acid, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed soy protein, and laureth 7. 
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising applying the topical skin care composition to a fine line or wrinkle. 
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising applying the topical skin care composition to skin having an uneven tone. 
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the topical skin care composition includes  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract. 
   
   
       21 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the topical skin care composition includes  Euterpe oleracea  extract. 
   
   
       22 . A method of reducing or preventing the appearance of a fine line or wrinkle on a person's face comprising applying the topical skin care composition of  claim 1  to facial skin, wherein topical application of the composition reduces or prevents the appearance of a fine line or wrinkle on the facial skin. 
   
   
       23 . A method of increasing cellular anti-oxidant defense mechanisms in skin comprising applying the topical skin care composition of  claim 1  to skin in need thereof, wherein topical application of the composition increases cellular anti-oxidant defense mechanisms in skin. 
   
   
       24 . An anhydrous lipstick comprising:
 (a)  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract or  Euterpe oleracea  extract;   (b) a sunblock agent;   (c) petrolatum;   (d) paraffin;   (e) tocopheryl acetate;   (f)  aloe - barbadensis  extract;   (g) squalane;   (h) fragrance; and   (i) a color ingredient.   
   
   
       25 . The anhydrous lipstick of  claim 21 , wherein the sunblock agent is octyl methoxycinnamate.
