Compositions comprising kakadu plum extract or acai berry extract

Abstract

A topical skin care composition comprising kakadu plum extract or acai berry extract, or a combination of both, is disclosed. The composition can include a high oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) value. The composition can improve the skin's visual appearance, physiological functions, clinical properties, and/or biophysical properties.

1 . A topical skin care composition comprising:
 (a)  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract or  Euterpe oleracea  extract;   (b) an essential oil; and   (c) a moisturizing agent,   wherein the composition is formulated for topical application to skin.   
   
   
       2 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of lavender oil and rosemary oil. 
   
   
       3 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 2 , wherein the moisturizing agent is selected from the group consisting of arginine and glycerin. 
   
   
       4 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 3 , wherein the composition further includes citric acid. 
   
   
       5 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 4 , wherein the composition further includes aloe-barbadensis extract. 
   
   
       6 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 3 , wherein the composition further includes apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, and sunflower seed oil. 
   
   
       7 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 6 , wherein the composition further includes xanthan gum and aloe-barbadensis extract. 
   
   
       8 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 7 , wherein the composition further includes glyceryl stearate and stearyl alcohol. 
   
   
       9 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract. 
   
   
       10 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes  Euterpe oleracea  extract. 
   
   
       11 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition includes  Terminalia ferdinandiana  extract and  Euterpe oleracea  extract. 
   
   
       12 . The topical skin care composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition does not include a silicone-containing compound. 
   
   
       13 . A method of evening out a person's skin tone comprising applying the topical skin care composition of  claim 1  to skin in need thereof, wherein topical application of the composition evens out the person's skin tone. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of lavender oil and rosemary oil. 
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the moisturizing agent is selected from the group consisting of arginine and glycerin. 
   
   
       16 . The method of claim composition of  claim 15 , wherein the composition further includes citric acid. 
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the composition further includes apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, and sunflower seed oil. 
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the composition further includes xanthan gum and aloe-barbadensis extract. 
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the composition further includes glyceryl stearate and stearyl alcohol. 
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the composition does not include a silicone containing compound.
