Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of a nasal spray made from Cistus extracts for the prevention and/or treatment of viral and/or bacterial diseases of the oral and pharyngeal cavities.

1 . Nasal sprays made from extracts from plants or plant components of the genus  Cistus  having a particle size of at least 30 μm for the prevention and/or treatment of viral and/or bacterial diseases of the nasal and/or pharyngeal cavities. 
   
   
       2 . The nasal sprays according to  claim 1 , characterized in that plants or plant components from  Cistus incanus  are employed. 
   
   
       3 . The nasal sprays according to  claim 1 , characterized in that aqueous and/or organic, especially alcoholic, extracts are employed. 
   
   
       4 . The nasal sprays according to  claim 1 , characterized in that said extracts are employed for the prevention and/or treatment of common cold, influenza, flu-like infections, especially bird flu. 
   
   
       5 . The nasal sprays according to  claim 1 , characterized by containing antibiotics, vasoconstrictors, oxymetazoline and/or xylometazoline. 
   
   
       6 . The nasal sprays according to  claim 1  having a particle size of at least 50 μm. 
   
   
       7 . The nasal sprays according to,  claim 1 , characterized by containing benzoic acid and/or sorbic acid and/or salts thereof as preservatives. 
   
   
       8 . A process for the prevention and/or treatment of viral and/or bacterial diseases of the nasal and/or pharyngeal cavities by applying a nasal spray made from extracts from plants or plant components of the genus  Cistus  having a particle size of at least 30 μm.
