Abstract

A device for securing a conduit to a structural object. The device including a clip having a longitudinally extending clip body with a conduit receiving cavity extending in the longitudinal direction and about a cavity axis with a longitudinally extending conduit receiving slot. The device further including a panel strap securable to the structural object.

       26 . A method of mounting a conduit to a stud used in the construction of a building, said method including the steps of:
 locating a stud in said building which is an elongated structural object having a front, rear and side structural surface for the conduit to mounted to;   providing a mounting arrangement including a clip portion having a longitudinally extending clip body extending between a first and a second end thereby defining a clip length, said clip further including a conduit receiving cavity extending about a cavity axis such that said cavity includes a conduit receiving slot parallel to said cavity axis, said mounting arrangement further including a strap joined to said clip, said strap including a base plate extending in a base plane direction between a first end and a second end, said clip being joined to said base plate, said clip further including a first leg extending from said first end and a second leg extending from said second end wherein said base plate and said first and second legs form generally a C-shaped strap, said first and second legs each including distal ends spaced from said base plate, respectively, which include inwardly extending barbs, said legs and said base plate engaging said stud and said barbs interengaging with said stud to maintain said mounting arrangement relative to said stud, said legs being configured to allow said mounting arrangement to be covered by a wall board;   positioning said strap over said stud such that said inwardly extending barbs snap over said stud;   providing a conduit having a central conduit axis and an outer layer extending about the conduit axis;   securing said conduit in said conduit receiving cavity.   
   
   
       27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said inwardly extending barbs extend both inwardly and upwardly toward said clip portion. 
   
   
       28 . The method of  claim 26 , said portion includes a first clip and a second clip. 
   
   
       29 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said mounting arrangement is a single molded component. 
   
   
       30 . The method of  claim 26 , further including the steps of providing a wall board and applying said wall board to at least a portion of said stud such that said wall board covers one of said first and second legs. 
   
   
       31 . The method of  claim 30 , wherein said stud has a rectangular cross-sectional configuration with a short side and a long side, said strap being configured to interengage with the associated stud such that said base plate is generally parallel to the long side and said legs overlap the short sides, said portion of said stud being one of said short sides. 
   
   
       32 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said wall board is a sheet of drywall. 
   
   
       33 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said extends along a stud axis, said cavity axis extending generally parallel to the associated stud axis. 
   
   
       34 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein said providing a mounting arrangement is providing a plurality of mounting arrangements and said locating a stud is locating a plurality of studs in a direction in which said conduit is to travel, said method further including the step of positioning each of said plurality of mounting arrangements on a different studs and securing said conduit in said conduit receiving cavity of each of said plurality of mounting arrangements in said direction of travel. 
   
   
       35 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein said positioning step further includes positioning more than one mounting arrangement on a single stud.

The method of  claim 26 , wherein said providing a mounting arrangement is providing a plurality of mounting arrangements and said locating a stud is locating a plurality of studs in a direction in which said conduit is to travel, said method further including the step of positioning more than one mounting arrangement on a single stud and securing said conduit in said conduit receiving cavity of each of said plurality of mounting arrangements in said direction of travel. 
   
   
       37 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said providing a mounting arrangement is providing a plurality of mounting arrangements and said locating a stud is locating a plurality of studs in a direction in which said conduit is to travel, said method further including the step of positioning each of said plurality of mounting arrangements on a different studs and securing said conduit in said conduit receiving cavity of each of said plurality of mounting arrangements in said direction of travel. 
   
   
       38 . The method of  claim 37 , wherein said positioning step further includes positioning more than one mounting arrangement on a single stud. 
   
   
       39 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said providing a mounting arrangement is providing a plurality of mounting arrangements and said locating a stud is locating a plurality of studs in a direction in which said conduit is to travel, said method further including the step of positioning more than one mounting arrangement on a single stud and securing said conduit in said conduit receiving cavity of each of said plurality of mounting arrangements in said direction of travel. 
   
   
       40 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said legs have an overall thickness and said thickness is sufficiently small to prevent noticeable bulging of said wall board.
