Dual toilet tank system
Abstract
The dual toilet tank system is a toilet flushing system that efficiently uses the water in the tank depending on the waste being flushed. The tank body has a divider separating the tank into two compartments, one compartment has a smaller volume than the other; a flushing valve assembly with two flapper valves, one flapper valve disposed vertically higher than the other with each disposed in respective compartments; and independently operated actuators that flush the water in respective compartments or all of the tank. The smaller volume compartment is mostly used for liquid wastes while the larger volume compartment is used for solid wastes. For larger loads, both compartments are utilized.

20 . A dual toilet tank system, comprising:
a tank including a tank body, said tank body having at least opposing front and back walls and a bottom for holding a volume of fluid; a divider insertably mounted between the opposing front and back walls of said tank, said divider separating the tank into a first compartment and a second compartment, each said compartment having a volume, wherein the volume of the first compartment is substantially smaller than the volume of the second compartment, said divider defining a bottom slot for providing fluid communication between the first and second compartments; a refilling assembly disposed in the second compartment of said tank; a flushing valve assembly having a first flapper disposed in the first compartment and a second flapper valve disposed in the second compartment, the first flapper valve being disposed vertically higher than the second flapper valve with respect to the bottom of said tank, said flushing valve assembly further including an elongated overflow tube operably connected to said refilling assembly and a connector disposed between said first flapper valve and said overflow tube, said first flapper valve extending laterally from one side of said overflow tube and said second flapper valve extending laterally from an opposite side of the overflow tube, said connector being disposed within the bottom slot defined in said divider; a first actuator mounted on said tank for selectively flushing fluid in the first compartment; and a second actuator mounted on said tank for selectively flushing fluid in the second compartment; wherein the first and second actuators are disposed at the same location on the tank body and independently actuated to drain fluid from each of the compartments of the tank.
21 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 20 , wherein:
said first actuator further comprises:
a first handle adjacent the first compartment;
an elongated first lever arm extending from the first handle; and
an adjustable chain having one end connected to a distal end of the first lever arm and an opposite end connected to the first flapper valve; and
said second actuator further comprises:
a second handle coaxially mounted to the first handle;
an elongated second lever arm extending from the second handle; and
an adjustable chain having one end connected to a distal end of the second lever arm and an opposite end connected to the second flapper valve.
22 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 20 , wherein said divider has a cutout formed therein to allow passage of one of the first and second lever arms into the first compartment.
23 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 20 , wherein the refilling assembly comprises:
an elongated inflow tube having opposite ends, one of the ends being connected to a fluid source; a fluid flow control assembly disposed on the opposite end of the inflow tube from the fluid source; and a refill tube extending from the fluid flow control assembly.
24 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 23 , wherein the fluid flow control assembly comprises:
an inflow valve; an elongated float arm pivotally connected to the inflow valve; and a float disposed on the float arm; wherein draining and refilling fluid in the tank lowers and raises the float to thereby respectively open and close the inflow valve.
25 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 23 , further comprising a filter tube adjacent said inflow tube.
26 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 20 , wherein said divider further defines at least one hole disposed above the bottom slot for providing fluid flow between the first and second compartments.
27 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 20 , wherein said overflow tube has a connecting bore formed therethrough adjacent the bottom of the overflow tube and above the extension of the second flapper valve, said first flapper valve having a connecting bore formed therethrough, said connector fastening the overflow tube to the first flapper valve.
28 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 27 , wherein the first flapper valve further comprises:
a first flapper valve housing having an open end and a closed end; a cap defining the closed end of the first flapper housing; a substantially L-shaped tube extending from the first flapper valve housing, the connecting bore for the first flapper valve being disposed at a juncture defining the L-shape of the L-shaped tube; and a pivotally mounted first flapper disposed on the open end of the first valve housing to selectively open and close the first flapper valve to thereby allow draining and filling of said first compartment.
29 . The dual toilet tank system according to claim 28 , wherein the second flapper valve further comprises:
a second flapper valve housing having an open end and an outlet shall, the outlet shaft defining the outlet end of the flushing valve assembly; and a pivotally mounted second flapper disposed on the open end of the second valve housing to selectively open and close the second flapper valve to thereby allow draining and filling of said second compartment, the outlet shall being dimensioned and configured for mounting to a discharge passage of a toilet bowl, whereby fluid drained from either of the compartments flows out through the outlet shaft.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
