Invisible magnetic quilt hanger

Abstract

The objective of the invention is to enable the easy installation and displaying of a quilt, textile or similar on a vertical mounting surface invisibly. It also removes the critical need for leveling devices to obtain precision horizontal installation, still allowing for proper horizontal display of the quilt. The use of powerful magnets, center point mounting, and variable length rod enables display and easy switching out of different sized textiles. Using an adjustable rod across the full width of the quilt ensures proper support as well as full exposure of the quilt for viewing without the distraction of the mounting device itself being evident. Options in device mounting make it possible to remove and re-install without damaging the vertical surface on which it was mounted. As no compression of the textile is used with this invention, uneven fading (evident in most textiles exposed to light) of the quilt will not occur.

1 . A magnetic quilt hanger comrrising:
 a solid rigid substrate in which a plurality of powerful magnets are attached;   said solid rigid substrate is mountable to a wall using at least one fastener;   a quilt or textile having a rod pocket;   a steel rod having adjustable length adjustment is slid into said rod pocket, and   said steel rod within said rod pocket on said quilt or textile is magnetically attracted and retained on said substrate to hang said rug or textile vertically on said wall.   
   
   
       2 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said steel rod telescopes. 
   
   
       3 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said magnets are set into counter bores in said solid rigid substrate. 
   
   
       4 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said solid rigid substrate is mounted to said wall with screws. 
   
   
       5 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said solid rigid substrate is mounted to said wall with an adhesive. 
   
   
       6 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said solid rigid substrate is non-ferrous. 
   
   
       7 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein said quilt hanger allows different width quilts or textiles to be displayed without said hanger being visible. 
   
   
       8 . The magnetic quilt hanger as disclosed in  claim 1  wherein a length of steel rod is adjustable to a length that completely hide said steel rod within said rod pocket.
