Claims
Abstract
A modular mating stent is adapted to resist migration within a receiving stent. The modular mating stent has a substantially self-expandable first section of predetermined compressibility that is adapted to permit the first section to conform to the shape of a body lumen surrounding the first section. The modular mating stent also has a balloon-expandable second section that is less compressible than the first section, which is adapted to firmly engage a surface of the receiving stent surrounding the second section.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A modular mating stent adapted to resist migration within a receiving stent, comprising:
a substantially self-expandable first section of predetermined compressibility adapted to permit said section to conform to the shape of a body lumen surrounding said section; and a balloon-expandable second section less compressible than said first section adapted to firmly engage a surface of the receiving stent surrounding the second section.
2 . The modular mating stent of claim 1 wherein the balloon-expandable second section is configured to be deployed at least partially within the receiving stent and to firmly engage the surrounding receiving stent to resist migration and leakage.
3 . The modular mating stent of claim 2 wherein the balloon-expandable second section has a predetermined compressibility when expanded that is less compressible than that of an aperture of the receiving stent into which the second section has been deployed.
4 . The modular mating stent of claim 1 wherein the self-expandable first section is comprised of a tubular member, the tubular member defining a plurality of openings.
5 . The modular mating stent of claim 4 wherein the self-expandable first section is at least partially constructed from at least one strand of braided stent material.
6 . The modular mating stent of claim 4 wherein the self-expandable first section is at least partially constructed of a shape memory material.
7 . The modular mating stent of claim 6 wherein the shape memory material is nitinol.
8 . The modular mating stent of claim 1 wherein the balloon-expandable second section is comprised of a tubular member, the tubular member defining a plurality of openings.
9 . The modular mating stent of claim 8 wherein the balloon expandable second section is at least partially constructed of stainless steel.
10 . The modular mating stent of claim 8 wherein the balloon expandable second is comprised of a cut tube of stent material comprising a plurality of interconnected members defining a plurality of cell spaces.
11 . The modular mating stent of claim 8 wherein the balloon expandable second section is comprised of a cut sheet of stent material formed into a tubular shape, the tubular shape comprising a plurality of interconnected members defining a plurality of cell spaces.
12 . The modular mating stent of claim 8 wherein the balloon expandable second section comprises at least one vessel engagement member, the at least one vessel engagement member selected from the group consisting of hooks, barbs, T-fasteners, bumps, ridges, and combinations thereof.

The modular mating stent of claim 1 wherein the balloon expandable second section comprises at least one distally extending member and the self-expandable first section comprises at least one proximally extending member, the at least one proximally extending member and the at least one distally extending member being engaged to each other.
14 . The modular mating stent of claim 13 further comprising at least one crimping member, the at least one crimping member disposed about the at least one proximally extending member and the at least one distally extending member.
15 . The modular mating stent of claim 14 wherein the at least one crimping member is at least partially constructed of a radiopaque material.
16 . The modular mating stent of claim 1 further comprising at least one layer of graft material, the at least one layer of graft material at least partially disposed about and/or within the modular mating stent to define a fluid passageway therethrough.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
