Abstract

Use of the PEDF factor to induce cell regeneration. The present invention refers to the use of the molecule PEDF for the manufacture of medicines to activate processes included in the group of regenerative processes, such as skin regeneration, wound healing, cell therapy for cardiac, neural, or hematopoietic regeneration. It also refers to the manufacture/use of pharmaceutical compounds that contain an efficient quantity of the PEDF factor for stem cell self-renewal.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising using of the PEDF factor, in its complete or fragmented sequence, for enhancing symmetrical self-renewal of stem cells cultured in vitro.

2 . The method according to the claim 1 , wherein the stem cells are adult cells or embryonic cells.

3 . The method according to the claim 1 , wherein the stem cells are native or genetically/epigenetically modified stem cells.

4 . A method comprising using of the PEDF factor, in its complete or fragmented sequence, for manufacturing medicaments useful in activating endogenous stem cells.

5 . The method according to the claim 1 , wherein the medicaments additionally comprise molecules selected from: amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates and metals.

6 . The method according to claim 4 , wherein the medicaments additionally comprise a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

7 . The method according to claim 4 , wherein the medicaments are in the form selected from: powder, granulates, tablets, capsules, troches, solution, suspension, emulsion and syrup.

8 . The method according to claim 1 , characterized in that the PEDF factor quantity is at least 20 ng/ml.

9 . Method of tissue repair comprising transplants of stem cells cultured in vitro in the presence of PEDF factor.

10 . Method according to claim 9 , wherein the tissue to be repaired is selected from: skin tissue, cardiac tissue, haematopoietic tissue or neural tissue.
