Abstract
This invention relates to lactam/vinyl alcohol copolymers, and more specifically, to hydrophobic cross-linkable acetoacetylated lactam/vinyl alcohol copolymers suitable for use in a variety of applications including printing, inks, membranes, coatings, adhesives, oil treatment chemicals (such as gas and kinetic hydrate inhibitors), and fiber/textile treatments.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A hydrophobic, crosslinkable acetoacetylated lactam/vinyl alcohol copolymer.
2 . The copolymer of claim 1 in which said lactam is vinyl pyrrolidone or vinyl caprolactam.
3 . The copolymer of claim 2 which is made by partially hydrolyzing a polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymer to produce a poly(vinylpyrrolidone/vinyl alcohol) copolymer and then acetoacetylating said copolymer with a diketene to obtain said desired copolymer.
4 . The copolymer of claim 3 wherein said poly vinylpyrrolidone/vinyl alcohol is partially hydrolyzed to a degree of at least 80%.
5 . The copolymer of claim 3 wherein said acetoacetylation step is carried out in a non-aqueous medium.
6 . The copolymer of claim 5 wherein said acetoacetylation step is carried to a degree of at least 50%.
7 . An inkjet recoding medium comprising a support and a hydrophobic crosslinkable acetacetylated lactam/vinyl alcohol copolymer.
8 . The inkjet recording medium of claim 7 which has enhanced dye fade stability.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
