Abstract

A 2-formylacetic ester derivative represented by the general formula (5) is provided: where R 4 represents an alkyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms; R 5 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and X represents H, Li, Na or K.

     where R 4  represents an alkyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms; R 5  represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and X represents H, Li, Na or K. 
   
   
       2 . The 2-formylacetic ester derivative according to  claim 1  wherein, in the general formula (5), R 5  is an ethyl group. 
   
   
       3 . The 2-formylacetic ester derivative according to  claim 1  wherein, in the general formula (5), R 4  is an ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl group. 
   
   
       4 . The 2-formylacetic ester derivative according to  claim 2  wherein, in the general formula (5), R 4  is an ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl group.
