Abstract
Apparatus and systems, as well as methods and articles, may operate to enter an idle state of a wireless device for a selected amount of time responsive to a combined clear channel assessment indication.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An apparatus, including
a wireless communications device to communicate in a wireless communications network, the wireless communications device including one or more modules to:
receive a wireless signal;
produce a first clear channel assessment (CCA) indicator that indicates if the wireless signal has a first set of characteristics;
produce a second CCA indicator that indicates if the signal has a second set of characteristics different than the first set;
produce a combined CCA indicator from the first and second CCA indicators; and
refrain from transmitting if the combined CCA indicator indicates that a wireless communications channel is busy.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said combined CCA indicator is produced by performing an OR operation between the first and second CCA indicators.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising filtering the combined CCA indicator to remove glitches of more than a selected time period.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising at least one modem to provide the first and second CCA indicators.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising at least one antenna for said receiving and transmitting.
6 . A method, including
performing operations in a wireless communications device, the operations comprising:
receiving a wireless signal;
producing a first clear channel assessment (CCA) indicator that indicates if the wireless signal has a first set of characteristics;
producing a second CCA indicator that indicates if the signal has a second set of characteristics different than the first set;
producing a combined CCA indicator from the first and second CCA indicators; and
refraining from transmitting if the combined CCA indicator indicates that a wireless communications channel is busy.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein said producing the combined CCA indicator comprises determining if at least one of the first and second CCA indicators indicates activity on the wireless communications channel.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising transmitting if both the first and second CCA indicators indicate no activity on the wireless communications channel.
9 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising filtering the combined CCA indicator to remove glitches of more than a selected time period.
10 . An article including a machine-accessible medium having associated information, wherein the information, when accessed, results in a machine performing:
performing operations in a wireless communications device, the operations comprising: receiving a wireless signal; producing a first clear channel assessment (CCA) indicator that indicates if the wireless signal has a first set of characteristics; producing a second CCA indicator that indicates if the signal has a second set of characteristics different than the first set; producing a combined CCA indicator from the first and second CCA indicators; and refraining from transmitting if the combined CCA indicator indicates that a wireless communications channel is busy.
11 . The article of claim 10 , wherein the operation of producing the combined CCA indicator comprises determining if at least one of the first and second CCA indicators indicates activity on the wireless communications channel.
12 . The article of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise transmitting on the wireless communications channel if both the first and second CCA indicators indicate no activity on the wireless communications channel.
13 . The article of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise filtering the combined CCA indicator to remove glitches of more than a selected time period.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
