Golf Club

Abstract

This invention relates to a golf club consisting of a club head having a tapered bore formed therein extending and tapering inwardly from the base of the club head to the upper surface thereof, a socket of corresponding external shape to the bore in the club head and a shaft adapted to be inserted into a bore formed in the socket. The socket is inserted upwardly into the end of the bore in the base of the club head and due to the taper is positively retained in said bore against upward movement.

An alignment device for placing adjacent to and in front of a club head face to train a golfer to adopt a stance in which the golfer's eyes are positioned vertically above the device, comprising: two upwardly spaced-apart members which when viewed from above are adapted to enable the upper one of the members to be located centrally in the lower one of the members such that said spaced-apart members produce an eclipse effect by the position of the upper one of said members in relation to the lower one of said members when the golfer's eyes are correctly positioned directly above a center line of the club head. 
   
   
       2 . An alignment device according to  claim 1 , wherein at least the upper one of the members has a circular outline when viewed from above. 
   
   
       3 . An alignment device according to  claim 2 , wherein the lower one of the members has a circular outline when viewed from above or has a marking on its upper surface which is circular when viewed from above. 
   
   
       4 . An alignment device according to  claim 3 , wherein the diameter of the circular outline of the marking on the lower one of the members is equal to or greater than the circular outline of the upper one of the members. 
   
   
       5 . An alignment device according to  claim 1 , wherein the members are connected together in vertically spaced-apart position by a central stem.

An alignment device according to  claim 1 , wherein the upper member comprises an upper plate having a first plurality of markings and the lower member comprises a lower plate disposed in parallel to said upper plate having a second plurality of markings corresponding to the first plurality of markings, and further including a connector connecting the upper plate to the lower plate. 
   
   
       7 . An alignment device according to  claim 6 , wherein the markings comprise radial lines. 
   
   
       8 . An alignment device according to  claim 6 , wherein the markings comprise circular lines. 
   
   
       9 . An alignment device according to  claim 1 , wherein the upper and lower members are of the same shape and size. 
   
   
       10 . An alignment device according to  claim 1 , wherein the upper and lower members are circular plates having the same diameter. 
   
   
       11 . An alignment device for placing adjacent to and in front of a club head face to train a golfer to adopt a stance in which the golfer's eyes are positioned vertically above the device, comprising: two upwardly spaced-apart members of the same shape and size which when viewed from above are adapted to enable the upper one of the members to be located centrally in the lower one of the members such that said spaced-apart members produce an eclipse effect by the position of the upper one of said members in relation to the lower one of said members when the golfer's eyes are correctly positioned directly above a center line of the club head. 
   
   
       12 . An alignment device according to  claim 11 , wherein the upper and lower members are circular plates having the same diameter. 
   
   
       13 . An alignment device according to  claim 12 , further including a connector for connecting the upper plate to the lower plate.
