Method to prevent wear of pant cuffs on the ground
Abstract
A method of preventing a lower portion of a cuff of a trouser leg extended over a heel on a shoe from dragging on the ground comprising the following steps: a) providing a fastener; b) attaching one side portion of the fastener to an upright rear peripheral side portion of the shoe; and, c) configuring an adjacent rear side portion of the cuff to releasably attach to the one side portion of the fastener. When the shoe is seated on the ground and the fastener is releasably attached to the adjacent trouser leg, a rear lower edge portion of the cuff is thereby releasably attached to the shoe and held above the ground. In a preferred aspect of this invention the fastener comprises a releasable coupling having mating side portions. The one side is portion of the coupling is attached to a heel of the shoe, and wherein the other side of the coupling, adjacent to the rear side portion of the cuff, is attached thereto. Most preferably the releasable coupling comprises a head side and a cap side, said head side having a head having an outer sloped peripheral sidewall and said cap side having a cap having an interior spring ring so that when the cap is pushed over the head the spring ring therein first expands and then reduces on the sloped peripheral sidewall thereby retaining the cap on the head.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of preventing a lower portion of a trouser leg cuff extended over a heel on a shoe from dragging on the ground comprising the following steps:
a) providing a fastener; b) attaching one side portion of the fastener to an upright rear peripheral side portion of the shoe; and, c) configuring an adjacent rear side portion of the cuff to releasably attach to the one side portion of the fastener; so that when the shoe is seated on the ground and the fastener is releasably attached to the adjacent trouser leg, a rear lower edge portion of the cuff is thereby releasably attached to the shoe and held above the ground.
2 . A method as in claim 1 wherein the one side portion of the releasable fastener comprises a necked button which is attached to a heel of the shoe; and wherein the adjacent side portion of the cuff is configured to releasably attach to the necked button by a button hole provided in the adjacent rear lower edge portion of the pant cuff.
3 . A method as in claim 2 further comprising a screw with which the necked button is attached to the heel.
4 . A method as in claim 1 wherein the fastener comprises a releasable coupling having mating side portions, wherein the one side is portion of the coupling is attached to a heel of the shoe, and wherein the other side of the coupling, adjacent to the rear side portion of the cuff, is attached thereto;
so that when the heel is seated on the ground, and the two side portions of the coupling are releasably mated, a rear lower edge portion of the cuff is thereby releasably attached to the heel and held above the ground.
5 . A method as in claim 4 wherein the releasable coupling comprises a head side and a cap side, said head side having a head having an outer sloped peripheral sidewall and said cap side having a cap having an interior spring ring so that when the cap is pushed over the head the spring ring therein first expands and then reduces on the sloped peripheral sidewall thereby retaining the cap on the head.
6 . A method as in claim 5 wherein the head side of the coupling is screwably attached to the heel and wherein the cap side of the coupling is attached to the trouser leg cuff.
7 . A method as in claim 6 wherein the cap side comprises a bracket which is bent over and around, then squeezed together on a bottom edge portion of the trouser leg cuff.
8 . A method as in claim 6 wherein the cap side comprises a clip having i) a fixed lower arm terminating in a jaw, ii) an upper arm, also terminating in a jaw, hinged to a mid-portion of the upper arm, and, iii) a lever which when moved to a closed position squeezes the arms and jaws together, clamping on any cuff therebetween the jaws of the clip.
9 . A method as in claim 6 wherein the cap is attached to one side of a bracket, and the other side of the bracket is configured to receive a screw which may be inserted through the bottom edge portion of the trouser leg cuff thereby attaching the trouser leg cuff to the cap side.
10 . A method as in claim 9 wherein the screw is inserted through an outer side portion of the trouser leg cuff so that the head of the screw is visible from behind the pant leg cuff when the coupling attaches the pant leg cuff to the heel, and wherein the head of the screw is enlarged so that the unattached head of the screw may better display a logo thereon.
11 . A method as in claim 1 wherein the one side portion of the fastener comprises a magnet.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
