Abstract

A finish trim for use in dry wall construction having an elongated core that is configured with a flange having outwardly facing surfaces to which is affixed a pre shrunk covering strip.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 16 . (canceled)

       17 . A trim device comprising:
a core having an outer surface; a paper dehydrated to be shrunk sufficiently to reduce at least one side thereof to a selected shrunken area to be used as a covering strip; and a bond bonding the said one side to the outer surface to constrain the interface between said strip and the outer surface to the selected shrunken area.

18 . A covered trim device prepared by a process, including the following steps:
selecting a hard core having an outer surface; selecting a paper to be used as a covering strip; dehydrating the covering strip to shrink it to a pre-shrunk condition with a bond surface thereof of a selected shrunken area; and a bond bonding the strip in the pre-shrunk condition to the outer surface of the core to, when the strip is hydrated, constrain the interface between the strip and core to an area corresponding with the selected shrunken area.

       19 . A trim device comprising:
an elongated core formed with an outwardly facing core surface; and an elongated moisture absorptive fiber cover strip on said core surface and having a bond surface, the cover strip being at the time of manufacture, dehydrated below atmospheric humidity to a shrunken condition and, while so shrunken, the bond surface bonded to the core surface area such that upon rehydration from the shrunken condition the bond surface will be constrained from expansion.

       20 . A trim device comprising:
a flange constructed with at least one exterior surface; a pre-shrunk cover strip of fiber material having an inner bond surface juxtaposed the exterior surface and sufficiently dehydrated to shrink and reduce the bond surface to a selected shrunken area; and a bond bonding the bond surface to the at least one exterior surface and operative to cooperate with the flange to constrain the bond surface to the selected shrunken area.

21 . The device as set forth in claim 20 wherein:
the cover strip is dehydrated by heating.

22 . The device of claim 17 wherein:
the strip is dehydrated at a temperature of at least 100° F.

23 . The device of claim 17 wherein:
the strip is dehydrated for substantially 8 hours.

24 . The device of claim 17 wherein:
the strip is dehydrated for substantially 8 hours at a temperature of at least 100°.

25 . The device of claim 17 wherein:
the paper is dehydrated sufficiently to reduce the shrunken area by substantially 3%.
