Abstract
A live, attenuated bacterium of the genus Escherichia, Yersinia or Salmonella, that does not have a functional tRNA5leu, and vaccines comprising the live, attenuated bacterium.

12 . A vaccine comprising an immunogenically effective amount of live, attenuated Salmonella typhimurium ( S. typhimurium ), said S. typhimurium not having a functional tRNA 5 leu , and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
13 . The vaccine according to claim 12 , wherein the S. typhimurium does not have a functional tRNA 5 leu as the result of a mutation in the leux gene.
14 . The vaccine according to claim 13 , wherein the mutation in the leux gene comprises an insertion.
15 . The vaccine according to claim 14 , wherein the mutation in the leux gene comprises the insertion of a heterologous gene.
16 . The vaccine of claim 12 , wherein the S. typhimurium comprises a heterologous gene.
17 . The vaccine of claim 13 , wherein the mutation in the leux gene comprises a deletion.
18 . The vaccine of claim 13 , wherein the mutation in the leux gene comprises a deletion and an insertion.
