Abstract
The invention relates to Factor H gene polymorphisms and haplotypes associated with an elevated or a reduced risk of AMD. The invention provides methods and reagents for diagnosis and treatment of AMD.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A diagnostic method for determining a subject's propensity to develop age-related macular degeneration (AMD), comprising detecting the presence or absence of a variation at a polymorphic site of a gene encoding a regulator of complement (RCA), wherein the gene encodes Factor H.
2 .- 28 . (canceled)
29 . A method of treating a patient diagnosed with or at risk for developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD) comprising administering a Factor H polypeptide to the patient.
30 .- 46 . (canceled)
47 . An isolated host cell expressing a recombinant variant human Factor H, wherein said variant has histidine in place of tyrosine at amino acid 402 (Y402H), or the variant has cysteine in place of arginine at amino acid 1210 (R120C).
48 .- 60 . (canceled)Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
