Abstract

A bedspread apparatus and method for facilitating the bed making process, possibly eliminating the need for pillow shams, and providing convenient storage of at least one item. A second layer portion may overlay part of the primary surface of the bedspread creating a pocket or space there between. Pillows, pajamas, or any other items may be conveniently stored within the pocket or space. The second layer portion may be either unitary with the primary surface of the bedspread or the second layer portion may be removably attached thereto. Overlapping side seams of both the second layer portion and primary surface may be secured together to further define the pocket or space. The leading edge of the second layer portion may be releasably fastened to the primary surface and the primary surface may further comprise fitted bottom corners at its foot region to facilitate placement of the present inventive bedspread.

1 . A bedspread, comprising:
 a primary surface of said bedspread; and   a second layer portion, wherein said second layer portion is attached to a top edge of said primary surface and said second layer portion overlays said primary surface immediately adjacent said top edge of said primary surface;   wherein a space is formed between said primary surface and said second layer portion adjacent said top edge of said primary surface within which at least one item may be conveniently stored.   
   
   
       2 . The bedspread of  claim 1 , wherein said attachment between said second layer portion and said top edge of said primary surface comprises at least one removable attachment. 
   
   
       3 . The bedspread of  claim 2 , wherein said at least one removable attachment is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure. 
   
   
       4 . The bedspread of  claim 2 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are reversible and respectively provide for one of at least two decorative design surfaces to be displayed. 
   
   
       5 . The bedspread of  claim 2 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are interchangeable via said at least one removable attachment. 
   
   
       6 . The bedspread of  claim 2 , wherein a leading edge of said second layer portion is releasably secured to said primary surface by at least one fastener member, wherein said at least one fastener member is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure. 
   
   
       7 . The bedspread of  claim 1 , wherein side seams of said second layer portion are secured to side seams of said primary surface disposed there below.

The bedspread of  claim 7 , wherein a leading edge of said second layer portion is releasably secured to said primary surface by at least one fastener member, wherein said at least one fastener member is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure.

The bedspread of  claim 1 , wherein a leading edge of said second layer portion is releasably secured to said primary surface by at least one fastener member, wherein said at least one fastener member is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure. 
   
   
       10 . The bedspread of  claim 1 , wherein said primary surface further comprises fitted bottom corners for facilitating placement of said bedspread. 
   
   
       11 . The bedspread of  claim 1 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are reversible and respectively provide for one of at least two decorative design surfaces to be displayed. 
   
   
       12 . A bedspread, comprising:
 a primary surface of said bedspread; and   a second layer portion, wherein said second layer portion is attached to a bottom edge of said primary surface and said second layer portion overlays said primary surface immediately adjacent said bottom edge of said primary surface;   wherein a space is formed between said primary surface and said second layer portion adjacent said bottom edge of said primary surface within which at least one item may be conveniently stored.   
   
   
       13 . The bedspread of  claim 12 , wherein said attachment between said second layer portion and said bottom edge of said primary surface comprises at least one removable attachment. 
   
   
       14 . The bedspread of  claim 13 , wherein said at least one removable attachment is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure. 
   
   
       15 . The bedspread of  claim 13 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are reversible and respectively provide for one of at least two decorative design surfaces to be displayed. 
   
   
       16 . The bedspread of  claim 13 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are interchangeable via said at least one removable attachment. 
   
   
       17 . The bedspread of  claim 12 , wherein side seams of said second layer portion are secured to side seams of said primary surface disposed there below.

The bedspread of  claim 12 , wherein a leading edge of said second layer portion is releasably secured to said primary surface by at least one fastener member, wherein said at least one fastener member is selected from the group consisting of at least one button, at least one complimentary pair of snap fasteners, at least one strip of hook and loop fasteners, and at least one zipper structure. 
   
   
       20 . The bedspread of  claim 12 , wherein said primary surface and said second layer portion are reversible and respectively provide for one of at least two decorative design surfaces to be displayed.
