Formwork tie & apparatus for retaining tie
Abstract
A primary pin apparatus having an adjustable one-step connection and disconnection mechanism, a supplemental pin apparatus for supplementing the primary pin apparatus and engaging ties, and an improved tie having a non-circular engagement hole. The primary and supplemental pin apparatuses each include an engagement pin including one or more locking fingers which selectively protrude angularly outward from a longitudinal axis of the engagement pin, wherein the locking fingers are selectively extendable and retractable in order to, respectively, connect and disconnect adjacent forming panels of a formwork. The tie includes a body which is elongated along a longitudinal axis and has an end presenting an engagement hole for receiving a pin, wherein the engagement hole having a greater dimension along the longitudinal axis and a lesser dimension along an axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A tie for connecting and maintaining a spacing between a first panel and a second panel, the tie comprising:
a body which is elongated along a longitudinal axis and having an end presenting an engagement hole for receiving a pin operable to secure the tie to the first panel, with the engagement hole having a greater dimension along the longitudinal axis and a lesser dimension along an axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
2 . The tie as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the first and second panels are each a forming panel which is part of a formwork.
3 . The tie as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the engagement hole is non-circular.
4 . The tie as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the engagement hole has a first lobe and a second lobe.
5 . The tie as set forth in claim 4 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same size.
6 . The tie as set forth in claim 4 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same shape.
7 . The tie as set forth in claim 4 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe have different sizes.
8 . The tie as set forth in claim 4 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe have different shapes.
9 . A system comprising:
a tie for connecting and maintaining a spacing between a first panel and a second panel, the tie including a body which is elongated along a longitudinal axis and having an end presenting a engagement hole having a greater dimension along the longitudinal axis and a lesser dimension along an axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis; and a pin for selectively connecting the tie to the first panel and having a cross-sectional shape which corresponds to the engagement hole, such that the pin is selectively receivable within the engagement hole.
10 . The system as set forth in claim 9 , wherein the first and second panels are each a forming panel which is part of a formwork.
11 . The system as set forth in claim 9 , wherein the engagement hole is non-circular.
12 . The system as set forth in claim 9 , wherein the engagement hole has a first lobe and a second lobe.
13 . The system as set forth in claim 12 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same size.
14 . The system as set forth in claim 12 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same shape.
15 . The system as set forth in claim 12 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are different sizes.
16 . The system as set forth in claim 12 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are different shapes.
17 . A system comprising:
a first forming panel and a second forming panel which are spaced apart from one another and are part of a formwork; a tie for connecting and maintaining the spacing between the first forming panel and the second forming panel, the tie including a body which is elongated along a longitudinal axis and having a first end presenting a first engagement hole and a second end presenting a second engagement hole, wherein each of the first and second engagement holes presents a first lobe and a second lobe such that the engagement hole has a greater dimension along the longitudinal axis and a lesser dimension along an axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis; and a first pin for selectively connecting the first end of the tie to the first forming panel, and a second pin for selectively connecting the second end of the tie to the second panel, wherein each of the first and second pins have a cross-sectional shape which corresponds to the respective engagement hole, such that the pin is selectively receivable within the engagement hole.
18 . The system as set forth in claim 18 , wherein the engagement hole is non-circular.
19 . The system as set forth in claim 18 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same size.
20 . The system as set forth in claim 18 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are the same shape.
21 . The system as set forth in claim 18 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are different sizes.
22 . The system as set forth in claim 18 , wherein the first lobe and the second lobe are different shapes.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
