Integrated reversible cap

Abstract

A reversible hat is converted between at least two visible designs within a substantially integrated unit. For example, the reversible hat can be converted between a blaze orange material and a camouflage material. In one embodiment, a first design is visible on the exterior surface of a first crown. The reversible hat is converted to show a second visible design by folding the exterior surface of a portion of a first crown onto the exterior surface of another portion of the first crown, thereby hiding the first visible design. The folding portion of the first crown is connected to a folding portion of a second crown. Thus, folding a portion of the first crown thereby unfolds a portion of the second crown. Folding the exterior surface of a portion of a second crown onto the exterior surface of another portion of the second crown reveals the first visible design again.

1 . An article of headwear comprising:
 a first crown that includes an outer surface, an inner surface, a fixed portion, and at least one movable portion, wherein the at least one movable portion is at least partially rotatable about a diameter of the first crown such that the at least one movable portion of the outer surface is in removable communication with the fixed portion of the outer surface;   a second crown that includes an outer surface, an inner surface, a fixed portion, and at least one movable portion, wherein the at least one movable portion is at least partially rotatable about a diameter of the second crown such that the at least one movable portion of the outer surface is in removable communication with the fixed portion of the outer surface;   a reversible crown covering at least part of a person's head formed by connecting the first crown to the second crown, wherein the first crown and the second crown are attached through at least part of the diameters of both crowns and through at least part of the circumferences of both crowns such that the bottom surface of the first crown and the bottom surface of the second crown are in at least partial communication with each other.   
   
   
       2 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein the reversible crown includes at least two positions. 
   
   
       3 . The article of headwear of  claim 2 , wherein the first position exposes the entire outer surface of the first crown, while the outer surface of the fixed portion of the second crown and the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the second crown are in at least partial communication and at least partially obscure the outer surface of the second crown. 
   
   
       4 . The article of headwear of  claim 2 , wherein the second position exposes the entire outer surface of the second crown, while the outer surface of the fixed portion of the first crown and the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the first crown are at least in partial communication and at least partially obscure the outer surface of the first crown. 
   
   
       5 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein the outer surface of the first crown includes a first design and the outer surface of the second crown includes a second design. 
   
   
       6 . The article of headwear of  claim 4 , wherein the first design is a solid color and the second design is camouflage. 
   
   
       7 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein the fixed portion of the outer surface of the first crown includes about 50 percent of the outer surface of the first crown and the fixed portion of the outer surface of the second crown includes about 50 percent of the outer surface of the second crown. 
   
   
       8 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein the fixed portion of the outer surface of the first crown includes at least one point of attachment that removably attaches to at least one of (a) the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the first crown, and (b) the attachment point of the front brim. 
   
   
       9 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein a front brim is rotatably attached to at least part of the circumference of the front of the reversible crown and further includes at least one point of attachment that removably attaches to at least one of (a) the outer surface of the first crown, and (b) the outer surface of the second crown. 
   
   
       10 . The article of headwear of  claim 1 , wherein an annular flap at least partially covers a wearer's neck and ears, the annular flap is rotatably attached to at least part of the circumference of the reversible crown, and the annular flap further includes a chin strap having a first section attached to one side of the annular flap that removably connects to a second section attached to the opposite side of the annular flap. 
   
   
       11 . A method of converting an article of headwear from a first visible surface to a second visible surface, said method comprising:
 providing a reversible crown having a first visible surface and a second visible surface, wherein the reversible crown includes a first crown and a second crown that are attached through diameters of both crowns and through at least part of the circumference of both crowns such that a bottom surface of the first crown and a bottom surface of the second crown are in at least partial communication;   enabling the reversible crown to reveal a first visible surface by folding at least part of the second crown such that at least part of an outer surface of at least one movable portion of the second crown is in communication with at least part of an outer surface of a fixed portion of the second crown, whereby an outer surface of the first crown is unfolded and at least partially visible and the outer surface of the second crown is at least partially hidden;   enabling the reversible crown to form a second visible surface by folding at least part of the first crown such that at least part of the outer surface of at least one movable portion of the first crown is in communication with at least part of the outer surface of a fixed portion of the first crown, whereby the outer surface of the second crown is unfolded and at least partially visible and the outer surface of the first crown is at least partially hidden.   
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising disengaging at least one point of attachment between the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the second crown and the outer surface of the fixed portion of the second crown before forming the second position and disengaging at least one point of attachment between the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the first crown and the outer surface of the fixed portion of the first crown before forming the first position. 
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising disengaging at least one point of attachment between a front brim and the outer surface of the fixed portion of the first crown before forming the second position from the first position, wherein the front brim is pivotally attached to the front of the reversible crown. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising disengaging at least one point of attachment between the front brim and the outer surface of the at least one movable portion of the second crown before forming the first position from the second position. 
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein revealing the second visible surface at least partially reveals a design on the outer surface of the second crown. 
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the revealed design is different then a second design on the outer surface of the first crown. 
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the revealed design is camouflage. 
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein revealing the first visible surface at least partially reveals a design on the outer surface of the first crown. 
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the revealed design is different then a second design on the outer surface of the second crown. 
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the revealed design is blaze orange.
