Abstract

Methods for reducing body weight, altering body composition, treating diabetes, reducing HbA 1c and reducing average daily blood glucose by the use of exendins, exendin agonists or exendin analog agonists are provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 133 . (canceled)

. A method for reducing HbA 1c and body weight in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an exendin or an exendin agonist analog in an amount to maintain the exendin or the exendin agonist analog at a minimum plasma concentration of at least 170 pg/ml for at least 1 month.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the exendin is exendin-4.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the reduction in HbA1c is at least 1.5%.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the HbA1c is reduced to less than 7.0%.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the HbA1c is reduced to less than 6.5%

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the weight reduction is at least 2 kg.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog is between 200 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration results in an average plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog of between 170 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.

. A method for reducing fasting plasma glucose and body weight in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an exendin or an exendin agonist analog in an amount to maintain the exendin or the exendin agonist analog at a minimum plasma concentration of at least 170 pg/ml for at least 1 month.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the exendin is exendin-4.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the fasting plasma glucose is reduced to less than 140 mg/dl.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the weight reduction is at least 2 kg.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog is between 200 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration results in an average plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog of between 170 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.

. A method for reducing body weight in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to the subject an exendin or an exendin agonist analog in an amount to maintain the exendin or the exendin agonist analog at a minimum plasma concentration of at least 170 pg/ml for at least 1 month.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the exendin is exendin-4.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the weight reduction is at least 2 kg.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the weight reduction is at least 4 kg.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog is between 200 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.

. The method of claim 15 , wherein the minimum plasma concentration results in an average plasma concentration of the exendin or exendin agonist analog of between 200 pg/ml and 600 pg/ml.
