Abstract

An arrowhead includes a body having a longitudinal axis, a pair of moveable first blades coupled to the body, a second blade having a tip and a rear portion opposite the tip, and a second fastener that engages the rear portion and fixedly couples the second blade to the body.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An arrowhead comprising:
a body having a longitudinal axis; a pair of moveable first blades coupled to the body; a second blade having a tip and a rear portion opposite the tip; and a second fastener that engages the rear portion and fixedly couples the second blade to the body.

2 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the rear portion comprises an extending portion having a tab that defines a first recess.

3 . The arrowhead of claim 2 , wherein the second fastener comprises a second recess configured to receive the tab.

4 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the second fastener is configured to be rotated about the longitudinal axis.

5 . The arrowhead of claim 4 , wherein the second fastener is a generally cylindrical member that comprises the second recess.

6 . The arrowhead of claim 4 , wherein rotating the second fastener tends to pull the second blade toward the body in a direction along the longitudinal axis.

7 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the second fastener comprises a plurality of generally cylindrical members.

8 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the second blade is a cut-on-contact blade.

9 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the pair of moveable blades are configured to be in a retracted position during flight and extend to an extended position upon impact with a target.

10 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , further comprising:
a pair of first fasteners that are positioned offset relative to the longitudinal axis and rotatably couple the moveable blades to the body.

11 . The arrowhead of claim 10 , wherein the body is configured to receive a third blade that is interchangeable with the pair of moveable first blades and is fixably coupleable to the body using the pair of first fasteners.

12 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the body is configured to receive a third blade that is interchangeable with the second blade and differs from the first blade in at least one of a size and a weight.

13 . The arrowhead of claim 1 , wherein the second blade includes a cut-out portion extending from a cutting edge.

14 . A body for an arrowhead, comprising:
a body portion; first means for fixedly securing a first fixed blade to the body portion; and second means for interchangeably fastening a second fixed blade to the body portion in a first configuration and rotatably coupling a pair of expandable blades to the body portion in a second configuration.

15 . The body of claim 14 , wherein the body has a longitudinal axis, and the second means engage the body in a position offset from the longitudinal axis.

16 . The body of claim 14 , wherein the first means comprises a generally cylindrical member.

17 . The body of claim 14 , wherein the first means comprises a plurality of generally cylindrical members.

18 . The body of claim 14 , wherein the first fixed blade is a cut-on-contact blade.

19 . The body of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first fixed blade and the second fixed blade includes a cutting edge having at least one cut-out portion.

20 . A method of configuring an arrowhead comprising:
providing a body portion, a pair of first fasteners, and a second fastener; coupling a pair of moveable blades to the body portion with the pair of first fasteners; coupling a first fixed blade to the body portion with the second fasteners; removing the pair of moveable blades from the body portion; and coupling a second fixed blade to the body portion.

21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein coupling the second fixed blade to the body portion comprises securing the second fixed blade between the first fixed blade and the body portion.

22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising coupling the first fixed blade to the body portion with the pair of first fasteners.
