Abstract

The present invention provides a structural member comprising a beam and, attached thereto, a sound insulating layer comprising a non-foamed, polymeric material. A method of obtaining such members is also provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A structural member comprising a beam and, attached thereto, a sound insulating layer comprising a non-foamed, polymeric material.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the member comprises a wooden beam.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the member comprises a metal beam.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material comprises a mineral filler.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material is an elastomeric material.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material comprises rubber or PVC.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the sound insulating layer is attached to a face of the beam.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the sound insulating layer is attached to opposed faces of the beam.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the sound insulating layer is attached directly to the beam.

. A member according to claim 1 , wherein the sound insulating layer is attached indirectly to the beam.

. A method of producing a structural member of claim 1 , which comprises attaching a sound insulating layer comprising a non-foamed, polymeric material to a beam.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the beam is selected from a wooden beam and a metal beam.

. A structure comprising a structural member including a beam and, attached thereto, a sound insulating layer comprising a non-foamed, polymeric material.

. A structure according to claim 13 , which is a wall or floor structure.

. A structure according to claim 14 , which is a partition wall structure.

. A structure according to claim 13 , which comprises plasterboard.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the material is selected from the group consisting of a mineral filler, an elastomeric material and a material comprising rubber or PVC.
