Color Coded Drywall Finishing System

Abstract

A color coded system for tracking drywall finishing. The system using colored joint compound to distinguish the separate stages of finishing drywall panels by using a different color, or shade of a color, of joint compound, plaster, or other suitable mixture on each stage of the finishing process. The joint compound, plaster, or other mixture can be colored by adding any type colorant or can be bought ready mixed in a color to contrast with the previously finished surface with each successive coat to be a different color.

1 . A system for distinguishing the separate stages of finishing drywall panels by using a contrasting colored mixture in each step of the process. These stages being the taping coat, bed coat, second coat, third coat, top coat, skim coat, and touch up or any combination there of. The color will be readily distinguishable from the previously color used by the unaided human eye. 
   
   
       2 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the mixture is drywall joint compound. 
   
   
       3 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the mixture is plaster. 
   
   
       4 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the mixture is spackle. 
   
   
       5 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the color is pigmented with a liquid coloring agent. 
   
   
       6 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the color is pigmented with a solid coloring agent. 
   
   
       7 . The material in accordance with claim # 1  wherein the color is pigmented with a universal paint dye. 
   
   
       8 . This system is the method of finishing drywall panel boards in such a manner as to distinguish with the unaided human eye between the different stages of the drywall finishing process by using contrasting colors at each stage. 
   
   
       9 . The mixture will be colored as it is applied to the surface being finished and will retain that color after drying with each successive coat the color changes.
