A 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl nucleoside selected from the group consisting of 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl uridine, 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl cytidine, 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl adenosine, and 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl guanosine.

An oligonucleotide A RNA comprising one or more 2′-C-allyl nucleotide 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl nucleotides selected from the group consisting of 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl uridine, 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl cytidine, 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl adenosine, and 2′-deoxy-2′-C-allyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl guanosine.
