Medical Sock

Abstract

A medical sock that is designed to aid in the placement of anti-embolism hosiery or thromboembolism stockings. The medical sock includes an oval foot covering produced from polyethylene that resembles a slipper or sock. The medical sock also includes slits within its sides to position it atop the foot, heel, and a portion of the lower leg. Once properly positioned, the medical sock provides a smooth surface over which the tight compression hosiery could be placed for ease in positioning.

1 . A medical sock comprising
 (a) a base, the base having two surfaces comprising an upper surface and a lower surface, the base also having two ends comprising a front end and a rear end, the base also having two sides comprising a left side and a right side, and   (b) means for keeping the base attached to an individual's foot.   
   
   
       2 . A medical sock according to  claim 1  wherein the base has an oval shape. 
   
   
       3 . A medical sock according to  claim 2  wherein the means for keeping the base attached to an individual's foot further comprises
 (a) a top covering, the top covering having two surfaces comprising an upper surface and a lower surface, the top covering further comprising two ends comprising a front end and a rear end, the top covering further comprising two sides comprising a left side and a right side,   (b) wherein the front end of the top covering is fixedly attached to the front end of the base.   
   
   
       4 . A medical sock according to  claim 3  wherein a portion of the left side of the top covering is attached to the left side of the base near the front end of the top covering and the front end of the base. 
   
   
       5 . A medical sock according to  claim 4  wherein a portion of the right side of the top covering is attached to the right side of the base near the front end of the top covering and the front end of the base. 
   
   
       6 . A medical sock comprising
 (a) a base, the base having two surfaces comprising an upper surface and a lower surface, the base also having two ends comprising a front end and a rear end, the base also having two sides comprising a left side and a right side, and   (b) means for keeping the base attached to an individual's foot, said means further comprising a top covering, the top covering having two surfaces comprising an upper surface and a lower surface, the top covering further comprising two ends comprising a front end and a rear end, the top covering further comprising two sides comprising a left side and a right side,   (c) wherein the front end of the top covering is fixedly attached to the front end of the base,   (d) further wherein a portion of the left side of the top covering is attached to the left side of the base near the front end of the top covering and the front end of the base,   (e) further wherein a portion of the right side of the top covering is attached to the right side of the base near the front end of the top covering and the front end of the base.
