Holders for beds

Abstract

Set of attachments, including one or more attachments are attached to a portion of bedding for storing an item, such that someone lying in bed may comfortably reach the item while in bed. The set of attachments may include various sorts of holders for holding personal items, such as one or more pockets and/or one or more straps. In an embodiment the bedding is a fitted bed sheet. In other embodiments, the bedding may be other pieces of bedding where the set of attachments may be placed within reach of the person. In an embodiment, the location of the set of attachments is based on an average sized individual of a particular population and the size of the bedding. In another embodiment, the location of the pocket is based on the dimensions of the individual for which the set of attachments is made and on the individual's bedding.

1 . A system comprising:
 a fitted bed sheet; and   a piece of material attached to the bed sheet forming a holder for storing items, which is positioned on the fitted bed sheet, the location of the piece of material being based on dimensions of an average sized person and on dimensions of the bed sheet,
 the piece of material having at least one edge that forms a top opening of the holder, the edge being straight, horizontal, and parallel to a top surface of the bed when the fitted sheet is fitted onto a mattress on a bed, 
 the piece of material being sewn to lie flat against the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is on a mattress, tension pulling the fitted sheet to fit on the mattress tends to pull the holder closed,
 the piece of material is on a side of the fitted sheet that is designed to face away from the bed, and 
 
 the holder being 1 inch to 30 inches wide, 
 any pocket that is located on the fitted bed sheet on a portion of the fitted bed sheet, that is on a side of the bed having the holder, is part of the holder. 
   
   
   
       2 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material forms one or more pockets. 
   
   
       3 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material is located at a distance between 11 inches and 20 inches from a location on the bed sheet that is expected to correspond to an edge of a bed when the bed sheet is placed on the bed. 
   
   
       4 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material forming a pocket having a width of 5 inches to 20 inches. 
   
   
       5 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material forms a pocket that is located at a distance of 1 inch to 2 inches away from a location that corresponds to a portion of the bed sheet that is expected to be placed on a top of a bed. 
   
   
       6 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material forms a pocket that has a height of 5 inches to 6.5 inches. 
   
   
       7 . The system of  claim 1 , the location of the piece of material on the bed sheet is such that when the bed sheet is placed on a bed in an expected manner, an averaged sized person can comfortably reach the item stored while sitting up in a reclined position at a location in the bed where an average person sleeps. 
   
   
       8 . The system of  claim 1 , the piece of material is located
 at a distance of 11 inches to 30 inches from a location on the bed sheet that is expected to correspond to a head of a bed when the bed sheet is placed on the bed, and   at a distance of 1 inch to 2 inches away from a location that corresponds to a portion of the bed sheet that is expected to be placed on a top of the bed;   
     the pocket having
 a width of 5 inches to 20 inches, and 
 a height of 5 inches to 7 inches; 
 
     the system further comprising a strap that has
 a width that is 2 inches to 6 inches, and 
 a height that is an eighth of an inch to a half of an inch; and 
 
     the strap being located such that a top of the strap is 1 to 2 inches below a top of the pocket. 
   
   
       9 . The system of  claim 1 , the holder being a single pocket that is 1 to 20 inches wide. 
   
   
       10 . The system of  claim 9 , the pocket being 14.5 inches wide, 5 inches high, and located on the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is fitted on a bed the pocket will be located 16 inches from the edge of the bed and 1 inch form a top of the bed. 
   
   
       11 . The system of  claim 9 , the pocket being 14.5 inches wide, 6.5 inches high, located on the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is fitted on a bed the pocket will be located 18 inches from a side edge of the bed and 1 inch form a top of the bed. 
   
   
       12 . The system of  claim 1 ,
 the piece of material being a meshed material attached to the bed sheet forming a meshed pocket for storing items, the meshed material being made from a mesh in which the meshing has holes between strands forming the meshing that are large enough such that dirt tends to fall out of the meshed pocket and not collect in the meshed pocket;   the meshed pocket having two rounded, bottom corners, as a result of the bottom corners being rounded, dirt tends not to get caught in the rounded corners of the meshed pocket.   
   
   
       13 . The system of  claim 12 , the pocket being 10 inches wide, 5 inches high, located on the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is fitted on a bed the pocket will be located 20 inches from a side edge of the bed, and 1 inch from a top of the bed.

       20 . A system comprising:
 a fitted bed sheet; and   a piece of material attached to the bed sheet for storing items, which is positioned on the fitted bed sheet, the location of the piece of material being based on dimensions of an average sized person and on dimensions of the bed sheet and   the piece of material forms one or more straps.   
   
   
       21 . The system of  claim 20 , the piece of material forming the strap has a width that is 2 inches to 6 inches. 
   
   
       22 . The system of  claim 20 , the piece of material that forms the strap being a first piece of material; the system further comprising:
 a second piece of material attached to the bed sheet for storing items, which is positioned on the fitted bed sheet, the location of the piece of material being based on dimensions of an average sized person and on dimensions of the bed sheet;   the second piece of material forms a pocket, and   a top of the strap is located 1 to 2 inches below a top of the pocket.   
   
   
       23 . The system of  claim 22 , further comprising:
 the strap having a first top edge that forms a first top opening of the holder and a first bottom edge forming a bottom edge of the holder, the first top edge and the first bottom edge both being straight being horizontal and parallel to a top surface of the bed when the fitted sheet is fitted onto a mattress on the bed, the first top edge and first bottom edge being at least four times longer than the height of the strap;   the strap being sewn to lie flat against the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is on a mattress, tension pulling the fitted sheet to fit on the mattress tends to pull the first top opening closed;   the second piece of material having a second top edge that forms a second top opening of the holder, the second top edge being straight being horizontal and parallel to the top surface of the bed when the fitted sheet is fitted onto the mattress on the bed; and   the second piece of material being sewn to lie flat against the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is on the mattress, tension pulling the fitted sheet to fit on the mattress tends to pull the second top opening closed.   
   
   
       24 . The system of  claim 23 ,
 a second strap having a third top edge that forms a third top opening of the holder and a third bottom edge forming a third bottom edge of the holder, the top edge and the bottom edge both being straight being horizontal and parallel to the top surface of the bed when the fitted sheet is fitted onto the mattress on the bed, the third top edge and third bottom edge being at least four time longer than the height of the strap, and   the second strap being sewn to lie flat against the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is on a mattress, tension pulling the fitted sheet to fit on the mattress tends to pull the third top opening closed.   
   
   
       25 . The system of  claim 20 , the piece of material forms a strap that has a height of ⅛ th  of an inch to a ½ of an inch.

       29 . A system comprising:
 a fitted bed sheet; and   a piece of material attached to the bed sheet forming a holder for storing items, which is positioned on the fitted bed sheet, the location of the piece of material being based on dimensions of an average sized person and on dimensions of the bed sheet,
 the piece of material having at least one edge that forms a top opening of the holder, the edge being straight, horizontal, and parallel to a top surface of the bed when the fitted sheet is fitted onto a mattress on a bed, 
 the piece of material being sewn to lie flat against the fitted sheet such that when the fitted sheet is on a mattress,
 tension pulling the fitted sheet to fit on the mattress tends to pull the holder closed, the piece of material is on a side of the fitted sheet that is designed to face away from the bed, and 
 
 the holder being two pockets formed side by side and touching one another, the width of the holder being 14 to 33 inches wide, the two pockets including a larger pocket that is 9 inches to 25 inches wide and a smaller pocket that is 5 inches to 8 inches wide.
