Silicon Containing Compounds Having Selective Cox-2 Inhibitory Activity and Methods of Making and Using the Same

Abstract

Silicon-containing compounds having selective COX-2 inhibitory activity, as well as compositions thereof are provided. The subject compounds find use in a variety of applications, including therapeutic applications. Also provided are kits containing the subject compounds and pharmaceutical preparations thereof.

1 . A silicon-containing compound having selective COX-2 inhibitor activity. 
   
   
       2 . The compound according to  claim 1 , wherein said compound is a tricyclic compound. 
   
   
       3 . The compound according to  claim 2 , wherein said compound comprises at least one silicon containing substituent moiety. 
   
   
       4 . The compound according to  claim 2 , wherein said compound comprises at least one annular silicon atom. 
   
   
       5 . The compound according to  claim 4 , wherein said annular silicon atom is bonded to at least one phenyl substituent. 
   
   
       6 . The compound according to  claim 5 , wherein said annular silicon atom is bonded to at least two phenyl substituents. 
   
   
       7 . The compound according to  claim 1 , wherein said compound comprises at least two silicon atoms. 
   
   
       8 . The compound according to  claim 1 , wherein said compound is a compound listed in Table 1. 
   
   
       9 . A method of treating a condition in a subject, said method comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of a silicon containing compound having COX-2 inhibitory activity. 
   
   
       10 . The method according to  claim 9 , wherein said condition is an inflammatory condition. 
   
   
       11 . The method according to  claim 9 , wherein said condition is a cellular proliferative disease. 
   
   
       12 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein said cellular proliferative disease is a neoplastic disease. 
   
   
       13 . A composition comprising a silicon-containing compound having COX-2 inhibitory activity in a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. 
   
   
       14 . A kit comprising:
 a silicon-containing compound having COX-2 inhibitory activity; and   instructions of using said compound.
