Abstract
An element is expanded in the left ventricle to isolate part of the left ventricle. The element has a generally convex outer surface and an apex which together define a desired geometry of the left ventricle. The isolated part of the wall of the left ventricle may be left so that the wall naturally forms around the element or the isolated portion of the ventricle may be evacuated and/or filled. The element may also be used to isolate part of the left ventricle containing a ventricular septal defect or other perforation or opening in the ventricular wall.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A device to be inserted intravascularly, comprising:
a member which is moveable between a collapsed and expanded configuration said member further configurable to form a circumferential attachment to the inner wall of the left ventricle.
2 . The device of claim 1 wherein said circumferential attachment forms a haemostatic seal that divides said ventricle into a blood flow side and a non blood flow side.
3 . The device of claim 1 with said expandable member comprising:
a circumferential band a plurality of radially opposed support members coupled to said circumferential band.
4 . The device of claim 1 in which said expandable member is naturally biased to said expanded configuration.
5 . The device of claim 1 further comprising piercing elements fixed to said expandable member suitable for anchoring said expandable member to said inner wall of the left ventricle.
6 . The device of claim 1 in which said expandable member comprises a generally convex outer surface.
7 . The device of claim 3 wherein said radially opposed support members are flexible.
8 . A medical system comprising:
A first device to be inserted intravascularly comprising a member which is moveable between a collapsed and expanded configuration, said member further configurable to form a haemostatic circumferential attachment to the inner wall of the left ventricle wherein said haemostatic circumferential attachment divides said ventricle into a blood flow side and a non blood flow side. A second device configured to delivering said first device to said ventricle A third device configured to evacuate blood from an isolated region of the left ventricle.
9 . The medical system of claim 8 wherein said second device suitable for delivering comprises a filter.
10 . The medical system of claim 8 wherein said second device suitable for delivering comprises an attachment device configured to anchor said first device to said left ventricle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
