Abstract

A nail polish container and applicator cap comprising a reservoir for containing nail polish to be applied, an opening into the reservoir, an applicator cap for sealing engagement with the opening, the applicator cap operatively associated with an applicator brush, the brush formed from bristles that are aligned in substantially the same direction as the longitudinal axis of the applicator cap, and an overshell of compressible material surrounding the applicator cap, the overshell providing a finger gripping surface on the applicator cap.

       21 . A nail polish container and applicator cap comprising:
 a) a reservoir for containing nail polish, said reservoir having an opening;   b) an applicator cap adapted for sealing engagement with said reservoir opening, said applicator cap having a top end, a bottom end and a side wall extending the length of said cap;   c) a continuous concave gripping surface on said side wall extending from said top end to said bottom end; and   c) an applicator brush having brush bristles aligned in substantially the same direction as the longitudinal axis of said applicator cap whereby said concave exterior surface is adapted to ergonomically receive the thumb and a forefinger of a users hand during use of said applicator cap.   
   
   
       22 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said concave gripping surface is non-compressible. 
   
   
       23 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said concave gripping surface is compressible. 
   
   
       24 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said concave gripping surface has non-compressible and compressible portions. 
   
   
       25 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said concave gripping surface is formed from the same material as said applicator cap. 
   
   
       26 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said concave gripping surface is formed from a different material than said applicator cap. 
   
   
       27 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 26  and wherein said concave gripping surface is integral with an overshell substantially overlying said applicator cap. 
   
   
       28 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 27  and wherein said overshell is formed from a non-compressible material. 
   
   
       29 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 27  and wherein said overshell is formed from a compressible material. 
   
   
       30 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said overshell at said cap top and bottom ends having a greater thickness that the thickness of the remaining portions thereof. 
   
   
       31 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 30  and wherein said overshell has a concave configuration and said applicator cap side wall has a planar configuration. 
   
   
       32 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said applicator cap having a non-angular transverse cross-section. 
   
   
       33 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 27  and wherein said overshell having a durometer ratio of about twenty-nine to about ninety-six shore. 
   
   
       34 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 27  and wherein said overshell is formed from a material selected from the group consisting of thermoplastic elastomers and silicon rubber. 
   
   
       35 . A nail polish container and applicator cap as in  claim 21  and wherein said applicator cap is formed from a material selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, ABS copolymers and nylon.
