Abstract
A multifunction IC card (MFC) has compatibility with a multimedia card, an SD card, etc. in that connector terminals (# 1 through # 13 ) are disposed on a card substrate ( 1 ) in two rows in a zigzag fashion, and realizes multifunction facilities in that a memory card unit ( 3 ) and an SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card unit ( 4 ) are respectively connected and mounted to predetermined terminals of the connector terminals (# 1 through # 13 ). The memory card unit ( 3 ) and the SIM card unit ( 4 ) are respectively separately provided with areas for storing secret codes for security. Thus, one IC card is capable of implementing multifunction facilities different in security level. Owing to the adoption of a plural-column layout corresponding to a form typified by the zigzag fashion in an array of the connector terminals, a relatively simple structure can be adopted in a card slot.

20 . A cellular phone configured for use with an integrated circuit card, the integrated circuit card including a memory unit having a function for storing data, a subscriber identity module (SIM) unit having a function for controlling security of subscriber information and account information, and a plurality of external terminals including first external terminals coupled to the memory unit, second external terminals coupled to the SIM unit, and third external terminals coupled to the memory unit and to the SIM unit, said cellular phone comprising:
a card slot for receiving the integrated circuit card; first terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the first external terminals of the integrated circuit card; second terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the second external terminals of the integrated circuit card; third terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the third external terminals of the integrated circuit card; a data processor having a CPU; and a card interface controller configured to perform interface control between the data processor and the integrated circuit card coupled to the first, second, and third terminals in the card slot.
21 . A cellular phone according to the claim 20 , wherein the card slot is arranged at a side face of the cellular phone.
22 . A cellular phone according to the claim 20 , wherein the third terminals in the slot include:
a power supply voltage terminal and a ground voltage terminal for providing a power supply voltage and a ground voltage from the cellular phone to both the memory unit and the SIM unit via predetermined ones of the third external terminals of the integrated circuit card.
23 . A cellular phone for use with a card, the card including a memory unit having a function for storing data, a subscriber identity module (SIM) unit having a function for controlling security of subscriber information and account information, and a plurality of external terminals including first external terminals coupled to the memory unit, second external terminals coupled to the SIM unit, and third external terminals coupled to the memory unit and to the SIM unit, said cellular phone comprising:
a card slot for receiving the card; first terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the first external terminals of the card; second terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the second external terminals of the card; third terminals in the card slot disposed to be coupled to the third external terminals of the card; a data processor having a CPU; and a card interface controller configured to perform interface control between the data processor and the card coupled to the first, second, and third terminals in the card slot.
24 . A cellular phone according to the claim 23 , wherein the card slot is arranged at a side face of the cellular phone.
25 . A cellular phone according to the claim 23 ,
wherein the third terminals in the slot include a power supply voltage terminal and a ground voltage terminal for providing a power supply voltage and a ground voltage from the cellular phone to both memory unit and the SIM unit via predetermined ones of the third external terminals of the card.

A cellular phone configured for use with an integrated circuit card, the integrated circuit card including a memory unit having a function for storing data, a subscriber identity module (SIM) unit having a function for controlling security of subscriber information and account information, and a plurality of external terminals including first external terminals coupled to the memory unit, second external terminals coupled to the SIM unit, and third external terminals coupled to the memory unit and to the SIM unit, said cellular phone comprising:
a card slot for receiving the integrated circuit card; first terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the first external terminals of the integrated circuit card; second terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the second external terminals of the integrated circuit card; and third terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the third external terminals of the integrated circuit card.
27 . A cellular phone according to claim 26 , wherein the card slot is arranged at a side face of the cellular phone.
28 . A cellular phone according to claim 26 , further comprising:
a data processor having a CPU; and a card interface controller through which data transfer from said data processor to the integrated circuit card is performed.
29 . A cellular phone according to claim 26 , wherein the third terminals in the slot include:
a power supply voltage terminal and a ground voltage terminal for providing a power supply voltage and a ground voltage from the cellular phone to both the memory unit and the SIM unit via predetermined ones of the third external terminals of the integrated circuit card.
30 . A cellular phone for use with a card, the card including a memory unit having a function for storing data, a subscriber identity module (SIM) unit having a function for controlling security of subscriber information and account information, and a plurality of external terminals including first external terminals coupled to the memory unit, second external terminals coupled to the SIM unit, and third external terminals coupled to the memory unit and to the SIM unit, said cellular phone comprising:
a card slot for receiving the card; first terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the first external terminals of the card; second terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the second external terminals of the card; and third terminals arranged in the card slot for operatively coupling said cellular phone to the third external terminals of the card.
31 . A cellular phone according to the claim 30 , wherein the card slot is arranged at a side face of the cellular phone.
32 . A cellular phone according to claim 30 , further comprising:
a data processor having a CPU; and a card interface controller through which data transfer from said data processor to the card is performed.
