Abstract

A portable chair includes a structure with a plurality of beam extensions that each have a first end, a second end, and a mid portion. The beam extensions form a paired “X” type crossing, wherein the beams are pivotally connected. Also included is a flexible panel having a periphery attached therebetween a pair of first ends, wherein the pair of first ends and panel are both adjacent to a surface. Further included is a flexible seat compartment having an outer margin attached therebetween a pair of the second ends. The chair has an open state with the panel drawn substantially taut setting a distance between the first ends, with the panel forming an increased area of contact with the surface, while the seat compartment has slack between the second ends. The chair also having a stowed state by beam extensions brought together from the panel and seat compartment collapsing.

1 . A portable chair apparatus that is adjacent to a surface, said apparatus comprising:
 (a) a support structure that includes a plurality of beam extensions, each said beam extension having a longitudinal axis with a beam first end portion, a beam second end portion, and a beam mid portion positioned therebetween, said plurality of beam extensions form a paired “X” type crossing, wherein said beam extensions are pivotally connected to one another at a crossover point adjacent to each said mid portion in said “X” type crossing;   (b) a flexible panel having a periphery portion that is attached therebetween a pair of said first end portions whose said beam extensions form said paired “X” type crossing, wherein said pair of first end portions and said flexible panel are both adjacent to the surface; and   (c) a flexible seat compartment element having an outer margin that is attached therebetween a pair of said second end portions whose said beam extensions form said paired “X” type crossing, wherein operationally said portable chair apparatus has an open operational state with said flexible panel being drawn substantially taught thereby setting a distance between said first end portions, with said flexible panel forming an increased area contact with the surface, while said flexible seat compartment element has slack between said second end portions, said portable chair apparatus also having a stowed state wherein said plurality of beam extensions are brought together with each said longitudinal axis becoming more parallel by virtue of said flexible panel and said flexible seat compartment element collapsing.   
   
   
       2 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of paired “X” type crossing sets of said beam extensions wherein said first end portions are all attached to said periphery and said second end portions are all attached to said outer margin. 
   
   
       3 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 2  wherein said first end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets. 
   
   
       4 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 2  wherein said second end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets. 
   
   
       5 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 2  wherein said first end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets and said second end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets. 
   
   
       6 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 1  wherein said flexible panel is constructed of a laminate including a sheet material with a broad flat reinforcing strap that is substantially taut as between said first end portions when said portable chair apparatus is in said open state. 
   
   
       7 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 2  wherein said flexible panel is constructed of a laminate including a sheet material with a plurality of broad flat reinforcing straps that are all substantially taut as between opposing said first end portions when said portable chair apparatus is in said open state. 
   
   
       8 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 1  further comprising a flexible accessories tray having an outer edge portion that is attached therebetween a pair of said mid portions. 
   
   
       9 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 8  wherein said flexible accessories tray further includes a drawstring positioned adjacent to said outer edge portion that is operational to further enhance a concave shape of said flexible accessories tray opposite of the surface for a purpose of helping to retain accessories. 
   
   
       10 . A portable chair apparatus that is adjacent to a surface, said apparatus comprising:
 (a) a support structure that includes a plurality of beam extensions, each said beam extension having a longitudinal axis with a beam first end portion, a beam second end portion, and a beam mid portion positioned therebetween, said plurality of beam extensions form a plurality of paired “X” type crossing sets, wherein said beam extensions are pivotally connected to one another at a crossover point adjacent to each said mid portion in said “X” type crossing, furthermore each of said first end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets and each of said second end portions are pivotally connected to one another as between each said paired “X” type crossing sets;   (b) a flexible panel having a periphery portion, said panel constructed of a laminate including a sheet material with a plurality of adjacent broad flat reinforcing straps that are each taut as between each said first end portions that are substantially oppositely disposed from one another thus setting a distance as between an oppositely disposed said first end portions when said portable chair apparatus is in said open state wherein said straps are attached to said first end portions adjacent to said periphery, wherein said plurality of first end portions and said flexible panel are both adjacent to the surface, said panel forming a substantially rigid web area as between said plurality of first end portions facing the surface for enhanced open state chair stability with a soft state of the surface; and   (c) a flexible seat compartment element having an outer margin that is attached therebetween to said plurality of second end portions to said margin, wherein operationally said portable chair apparatus has an open operational state with said flexible seat compartment element having slack between said second end portions, said portable chair apparatus also having a stowed state wherein said plurality of beam extensions are brought together with each said longitudinal axis becoming more parallel by virtue of said flexible panel and said flexible seat compartment element collapsing.   
   
   
       11 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 10  further comprising a flexible accessories tray having an outer edge portion that is attached therebetween a plurality of said mid portions. 
   
   
       12 . A portable chair apparatus according to  claim 11  wherein said flexible accessories tray further includes a drawstring positioned adjacent to said outer edge portion that is operational to further enhance a concave shape of said flexible accessories tray opposite of the surface for a purpose of helping to retain accessories.
