Abstract

Systems and method of organizing advertisements in a digital home communication terminal are disclosed. One such method includes displaying a plurality of advertisement categories corresponding to products, services, or combinations thereof. The method also includes receiving a user selection of one of the advertisement categories. The method also includes displaying a plurality of subcategories associated with the user selected advertisement category, responsive to the user selection. The method also includes receiving a user selection of one of the subcategories. The method also includes presenting an advertisement matching the selected advertisement category and subcategory.

1 . A method of organizing advertisements in a digital home communication terminal, the method comprising:
 displaying a plurality of advertisement categories corresponding to products, services, or combinations thereof;   receiving a user selection of one of the advertisement categories;   responsive to the user selection, displaying a plurality of subcategories associated with the user selected advertisement category;   receiving a user selection of one of the subcategories;   presenting an advertisement matching the selected advertisement category and subcategory.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the advertisement categories correspond to products, and the subcategory corresponds to a product type, a product source, or a specific product. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 preventing the presentation of any advertisement not corresponding to the selected advertisement subcategory and category.   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving and storing advertisements that do not correspond to the selected advertisement subcategory and category.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving and storing only those advertisements that correspond to the selected advertisement subcategory and category.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 retrieving the advertisement from local storage.   
     
     
         7 . A method of organizing advertisements in a digital home communication terminal, the method comprising:
 displaying a menu of advertisement categories corresponding to products, services, or combinations thereof;   receiving a user selection of one of the advertisement categories;   responsive to the user selection, displaying a succession of menus corresponding to subcategories, each menu associated with the user selected advertisement category and each subcategory further defining the previous subcategory;   receiving a user selection of one of the subcategories from each of the menus;   presenting an advertisement matching the selected advertisement category and all the selected subcategories.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the advertisement categories correspond to products, and the subcategories in the first of the succession of menus correspond to types of products in the selected advertisement category. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the subcategories in a second of the succession of menus correspond to sources of products in the selected subcategory from the first menu. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the subcategories in a third of the succession of menus correspond to specific products in the selected subcategory from the second menu.
