Method and system for watching items for sale in an auction system

Abstract

Described herein are a method and a system to monitor one or more items offered for sale by sellers in a network-based market place. In addition to the information provided by the sellers to describe the items, interested buyers may also provide their own information to further describe the items for the benefit of the buyers.

1 . A method, comprising:
 enabling a buyer to use a first network-based interface to identify an item offered for sale by a seller as an item to be included in a watch list, wherein the watch list is to include one or more items to be watched; and   enabling the buyer to use a second network-based interface to provide buyer's information and to associate the buyer's information with the item, wherein the first network-based interface and the second network-based interface are associated with a network-based market place.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the buyer's information comprises item rating information. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the item rating information is based on numeric representation or graphical representation. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising enabling the buyer to sort the one or more items in the watch list according to their respective item rating information. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising enabling the buyer to associate sellers' respective rating information with the one or more items in the watch list. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the buyer's information comprises comment information. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the second network-based interface is to include options to enable the buyer to add, modify, and delete the comment information. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the buyer's information comprises highlight information. 
     
     
         9 . A machine-readable medium comprising instructions, which when implemented by one or more processors perform the following operations:
 forming a watch list to include one or more items identified by a buyer as items to be watched, wherein the one or more items are offered for sale by sellers via a network-based market place, wherein the watch list is accessible by the buyer via a network-based interface, and wherein the network-based interface is to enable the buyer to associate buyer's information with the one or more items included in the watch list.   
     
     
         10 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 9 , wherein the buyer's information comprises one or more of item rating information, item comment information and item highlight information. 
     
     
         11 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 10 , wherein the network-based interface is to enable the buyer to sort the one or more items included in the watch list based on the item rating information. 
     
     
         12 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 10 , wherein the network-based interface is to enable the buyer to associate the one or more items included in the watch list with their corresponding sellers' rating information. 
     
     
         13 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 12 , wherein the network-based interface is to enable the buyer to sort the one or more items included in the watch list based on their corresponding sellers rating information. 
     
     
         14 . A computer system, comprising:
 means for generating a watch list to include information associated with one or more items identified by a buyer as items to be monitored; and   means for enabling the buyer to associate buyer's information with the one or more items to be monitored.   
     
     
         15 . The computer system of  claim 14 , wherein the means for enabling the buyer to provide the buyer's information comprises:
 means for enabling the buyer to provide comment information for the one or more items; and   means for enabling the buyer to provide rating information for the one or more items.   
     
     
         16 . The computer system of  claim 14 , further comprising:
 means for enabling the buyer to associate seller's rating information to the one or more items.   
     
     
         17 . The computer system of  claim 16 , further comprising:
 means for enabling the buyer to sort the one or more items based on item rating information; and   means for highlighting information associated with the one or more items.   
     
     
         18 . A method, comprising:
 providing a watch list network-based interface to enable users of a network-based market place to watch one or more items offered for sale via the network-based market place, wherein the watch list network-based interface is to include options to enable the users to associate users' own information to the one or more items to be watched, wherein the users' own information comprises rating information, and wherein the one or more items to be watched can be sorted based on the rating information.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the users' own information further comprises comment information. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the watch list network-based interface is to enable the users to associate sellers' rating information with the one or more items to be watched.
