Method and apparatus for displaying text information and numerical information in association with each other

Abstract

A method and apparatus for associating text information with numerical information. A first phrase corresponding to a time period is generated. The first phase represents a change in first numerical information over the time period. The first numerical information includes time-series data pertaining to a financial index. The text information is retrieved through use of a retrieval condition that includes the first phrase. The first numerical information is retrieved through use of the retrieval condition and the first phrase. The extracted text information and the retrieved first numerical information are outputted in association with each other.

1 . A method for associating numerical information comprising time series pertaining to one index with text information by an information processing apparatus, comprising:
 storing, with regard to a plurality pieces of numerical information including the numerical information, a first phrase, which is generated based upon a change in the numerical information and represents the change in the numerical information at least during one time period, in association with the time period and the numerical information by the information processing apparatus, respectively;   retrieving the text information through a use of a retrieval condition including the first phrase by the information processing apparatus;   extracting a second phrase representing a change in the other numerical information from the retrieved text information by the information processing apparatus;   retrieving the other numerical information corresponding to the first phrase matched with the retrieval information from the plurality of pieces of numerical information through a use of the retrieval condition including the second phrase by the information processing apparatus;   associating the numerical information with the text information based upon the first phrase by the information processing apparatus; and   outputting the numerical information during the time period corresponding to the first phrase associated in the step of associating the numerical information with the text information, and the text information, by the information processing apparatus, wherein   the step of outputting the numerical information and the text information comprises:   outputting by associating the retrieved text information with numerical information during the time period by the information processing apparatus; and   outputting by corresponding to the other retrieved numerical information with the retrieved text information by the information processing apparatus.   
   
   
       2 . The method according to  claim 1  wherein
 the step of outputting the numerical information and the text information further comprises:   outputting the retrieved text information in order to display a section corresponding to the retrieval condition to be identifiable to a user by the information processing apparatus; and   outputting in order to display the other numerical information to the user by the information processing apparatus in the case that the section corresponding to the retrieval condition is selected.   
   
   
       3 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 generating a first phrase representing a change in the numerical information during the time period based upon the change in the time series pertaining to the index during the time period, wherein   the step of storing by corresponding to the time period and the numerical information comprises   storing the first phrase generated by the generation part by corresponding to the time period and the numerical information by the information processing apparatus.
