System and Method for Compiling Images from a Database and Comparing the Compiled Images with Known Images

Abstract

A method and system for discovering from a database an object which is confusingly similar with a known object. A database, such as the internet, is searched for objects which, when discovered, may be duplicated and stored. A determination is then made if any object from the database is confusingly similar with a known object. A computer-readable storage medium storing program for causing a processing system to perform the steps of duplicating objects from a database to produce duplicated objects; storing the duplicated produce to produce stored duplicated objects; and determining if any stored duplicated object is confusingly similar with a known object.

1 . A computer program product for searching a network to identify a target object that is similar to a known object, said computer program product comprising:
 a computer readable storage media;   first program instructions to search a network for target objects;   second program instructions to determine if one of said target objects is similar to a known object by comparing, at more than one point of said one target object, a mathematical template associated with pixels of the known object to a matrix of numbers derived from pixels from said one target object; and wherein   said first, second and third program instructions are stored on said computer readable storage media.   
   
   
       2 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said mathematical template is associated with pixels that are based on a full-size of the known object. 
   
   
       3 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 2  wherein the pixels from said one target object comprise pixels associated with a scaled version of an entirety of said one target object. 
   
   
       4 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein the pixels associated with the known object comprise pixels associated with a full-size of said known object. 
   
   
       5 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 4  wherein the full-size of said known object comprises a complete area of pixels of said known object. 
   
   
       6 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 5  wherein each pixel of said known object and said one target object comprises three numbers representing red, green and blue. 
   
   
       7 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said one target object comprises a graphical image. 
   
   
       8 . A computer program product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said one target object comprises a video image.
