Infant cradling device
Abstract
An infant cradling device having a curved support member such that the support member can be rocked side-to-side. Preferably, the upper surface of the support member is provided with a layer of padding, and both are preferably encased within a removable cover that is washable. An infant seat is provided on the upper surface at one end of the device, the seat formed as a waistband and a crotch member positioned on the upper surface of the cover whereby two leg holes are defined to receive the legs of the infant therethrough. Preferably, a hand strap or pocket is provided on the rear of the device to secure the device when held.

a support member curved in transverse cross-section comprising curved upper and lower surfaces; a seat member positioned on said support member, said seat member comprising a waistband and a crotch member that in combination define a pair of leg openings; whereby said curved lower surface of said support member enables said device to rock in a side-to-side manner when on a flat surface, and whereby said curved upper surface of said support member laterally centers an infant retained within said device.
2 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising holding means for securing the device when held, said holding means positioned on the lower surface of the support member.
3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein said holding means comprises a strap member.
4 . The device of claim 2 , wherein said holding means comprises a pocket member.
5 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a cover member positioned on said support member.
6 . The device of claim 5 , wherein said cover member is removable.
7 . The device of claim 5 , wherein said seat member is connected to said cover member.
8 . The device of claim 2 , further comprising a cover member disposed on said support member, and wherein said holding means is connected to said cover member.
9 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a padding layer positioned on said upper surface of said support member.
10 . The device of claim 5 , further comprising a padding layer positioned between said upper surface of said support member and said cover member.
11 . A portable infant cradling device comprising:
a support member curved in transverse cross-section comprising curved upper and lower surfaces; a seat member positioned on one end of said upper surface of said support member, said seat member comprising a waistband and a crotch member that in combination define a pair of leg openings; holding means for securing the device when held, said holding means positioned on the lower surface of the support member toward the end of the support member opposite to the end of the support member bearing the seat member; whereby said curved lower surface of said support member enables said device to rock in a side-to-side manner when on a flat surface, and whereby said curved upper surface of said support member laterally centers an infant retained within said device.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein said holding means comprises a strap member.
13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein said holding means comprises a pocket member.
14 . The device of claim 11 , further comprising a cover member positioned on said support member.
15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said cover member is removable.
16 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said seat member is connected to said cover member.
17 . The device of claim 14 , wherein said holding means is connected to said cover member.
18 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a padding layer positioned on said upper surface of said support member.
19 . The device of claim 14 , further comprising a padding layer positioned between said upper surface of said support member and said cover member.
20 . A portable infant cradling device comprising:
a support member curved in transverse cross-section comprising curved upper and lower surfaces; a removable cover member positioned on said support member; a seat member positioned on one end of said upper surface of said support member and mounted on said cover member, said seat member comprising a waistband and a crotch member that in combination define a pair of leg openings; holding means for securing the device when held, said holding means mounted on said cover member and positioned on the lower surface of the support member toward the end of the support member opposite to the end of the support member bearing the seat member; whereby said curved lower surface of said support member enables said device to rock in a side-to-side manner when on a flat surface, and whereby said curved upper surface of said support member laterally centers an infant retained within said device.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
