Claims

Abstract

A battery cover for an electronic device including a battery receptacle. The battery cover generally comprises a base and a cover mating element. The base is operable to couple with a portion of the electronic device and at least partially cover the battery receptacle. The cover mating element is operable to couple with the base and interchangeably mate with a reciprocal mating element associated with a mount to couple the electronic device to the mount.

1 . A reciprocal mating element operable for mating with a cover mating element having a pair of protrusions and a pocket portion, the cover mating element operable for coupling with an electronic device, the reciprocal mating element including:
 a backing;   a pair of opposed grooves disposed towards opposite sides of the backing and extending generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the backing, the grooves operable to slidably engage the protrusions associated with the cover mating element to couple the reciprocal mating element to the cover mating element; and   a catch disposed on a lower portion of the backing and operable to engage the pocket portion when the opposed grooves are slidably engaged with the protrusions.   
   
   
       2 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing is integrated with a mount for the electronic device. 
   
   
       3 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , further including a carabineer operable for coupling with the backing. 
   
   
       4 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing includes a socket operable to removably couple with a ball associated with a ball-arm mount. 
   
   
       5 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing includes a curved mounting surface and one or more cable apertures operable to receive a cable for securing the reciprocal mating element to a bicycle handlebar stem. 
   
   
       6 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing forms a portion of a marine mount. 
   
   
       7 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing forms a portion of a carrying case for the electronic device. 
   
   
       8 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 1 , wherein the backing is generally curved. 
   
   
       9 . A reciprocal mating element operable for mating with a cover mating element having a pair of protrusions and a pocket portion, the cover mating element operable for coupling with an electronic device, the reciprocal mating element including:
 a mount operable to mount the electronic device;   a curved backing integrated with the mount;   a pair of opposed grooves disposed towards opposite sides of the backing and extending generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the backing, the grooves operable to slidably engage the protrusions associated with the cover mating element to couple the reciprocal mating element to the cover mating element; and   a catch disposed on a lower portion of the backing below the opposed grooves and operable to engage the pocket portion when the opposed grooves are slidably engaged with the protrusions.   
   
   
       10 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 9 , wherein the mount includes a carabineer. 
   
   
       11 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 9 , wherein the mount includes a ball positioned on a ball arm and the curved backing includes a socket operable to couple with the ball. 
   
   
       12 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 9 , wherein the backing includes a curved mounting surface and one or more cable apertures operable to receive a cable for securing the reciprocal mating element to a bicycle handlebar stem. 
   
   
       13 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 9 , wherein the mount includes a marine mount. 
   
   
       14 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 9 , wherein the mount includes a carrying case for the electronic device and the backing forms a portion of the carrying case. 
   
   
       15 . A reciprocal mating element operable for mating with a cover mating element having a pair of protrusions and a pocket portion, the cover mating element operable for coupling with an electronic device, the reciprocal mating element including:
 a mount operable to mount the electronic device, the mount including at least one of a carabineer, a ball positioned on a ball arm, a socket, a cable aperture, a marine mount, and a carrying case for the electronic device;   a curved backing integrated with the mount;   a pair of opposed grooves disposed towards opposite sides of the backing and extending generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the backing, the grooves operable to slidably engage the protrusions associated with the cover mating element to couple the reciprocal mating element to the cover mating element; and   a catch disposed on a lower portion of the backing below the opposed grooves and operable to engage the pocket portion when the opposed grooves are slidably engaged with the protrusions.   
   
   
       16 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 15 , wherein the backing forms a portion of the carrying case. 
   
   
       17 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 15 , wherein the catch and the grooves extend from the same side of the curved backing. 
   
   
       18 . The reciprocal mating element of  claim 15 , wherein the catch presents a triangular cross section.
