Abstract
A battery cover for an electronic device including a battery receptacle. The battery cover generally comprises a base and a cover mating element. The base is operable to couple with a portion of the electronic device and at least partially cover the battery receptacle. The cover mating element is operable to couple with the base and interchangeably mate with a reciprocal mating element associated with a mount to couple the electronic device to the mount.

a base operable to couple with a portion of the electronic device and at least partially cover the battery receptacle; and a cover mating element operable to couple with the base and interchangeably mate with a reciprocal mating element associated with a mount to couple the electronic device to the mount.
2 . The battery cover of claim 1 , wherein the cover mating element is operable to interchangeably mate with a plurality of reciprocal mating elements associated with a plurality of mounts to couple the electronic device to any one of the mounts.
3 . The battery cover of claim 1 , wherein the cover mating element includes protrusions operable to be at least partially received by the reciprocal mating element.
4 . The battery cover of claim 3 , wherein the protrusions extend from generally opposed sides of the cover mating element.
5 . The battery cover of claim 3 , wherein the cover mating element is operable to be slidably coupled with the reciprocal mating element by sliding the reciprocal mating element at least partially along the protrusions.
6 . The battery cover of claim 1 , wherein the cover mating element includes a first portion, a second portion, and a pocket portion defined between the first and second portions, the pocket portion being operable to receive a catch associated with the reciprocal mating element to couple the cover mating element thereto.
7 . The battery cover of claim 1 , wherein the base and cover mating element are fixedly attached.
8 . A mounting system for securing an electronic device including a battery receptacle to a mount, the mounting system comprising:
a battery cover including—
a base operable to couple with a portion of the electronic device and at least partially cover the battery receptacle, and
a cover mating element operable to couple with the base; and a reciprocal mating element associated with the mount, the reciprocal mating element being operable to interchangeably mate with the cover mating element to enable the electronic device to be secured to the mount.
9 . The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the system includes a plurality of reciprocal mating elements associated with a plurality of mounts, each of the reciprocal mating elements being operable to interchangeably mate with the cover mating element to enable the electronic device to be secured to any one of the mounts.
10 . The mounting system of claim 9 , wherein a first one of the reciprocal mating elements is associated with a first mount and a second one of the reciprocal mating elements is associated with a second mount different than the first mount.
11 . The mounting system of claim 10 , wherein the first and second mounts are mounts selected from the group consisting of an automobile mount, a motorcycle mount, a bicycle mount, a carabineer mount, a marine mount, and a carrying case mount.
12 . The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the cover mating element includes protrusions and the reciprocal mating element includes grooves operable to at least partially receive the protrusions to enable the reciprocal mating element and battery cover to be slidably coupled.
13 . The mounting system of claim 12 , wherein the protrusions extend from generally opposed sides of the cover mating element.
14 . The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the reciprocal mating element includes a catch and the cover mating element includes a first portion, a second portion, and a pocket portion defined between the first and second portions, the pocket portion being operable to receive the catch to couple the mating elements together.
15 . The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the reciprocal mating element is integral with the mount.
16 . The mounting system of claim 8 , wherein the base and cover mating element are fixedly attached.
17 . A method of securing an electronic device including a battery receptacle to a mount, the method comprising:
coupling a battery cover with a portion of the electronic device to at least partially cover the battery receptacle, the battery cover including a cover mating element; and interchangeably mating the cover mating element with a first reciprocal mating element associated with the mount.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further including—
uncoupling the cover mating element and the first reciprocal mating element, and interchangeably mating the cover mating element with a second reciprocal mating element, the second reciprocal being associated with a different mount than the first reciprocal mating element.
19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the first reciprocal mating element is operable to couple with at least one mount selected from the group consisting of an automobile mount, a motorcycle mount, a bicycle mount, a carabineer mount, a marine mount, and a carrying case mount.
20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the first reciprocal mating element is integral with the mount.
21 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the cover mating element includes protrusions and the first reciprocal mating element includes grooves operable to at least partially receive the protrusions and the mating elements are coupled by sliding the protrusions at least partially into the grooves.
22 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the first reciprocal mating element includes a catch and the cover mating element includes a first portion, a second portion, and a pocket portion defined between the first and second portions, the mating elements being coupled by inserting at least a portion of the catch within the pocket portion.
23 . A mounting system for separately securing an electronic device including a battery receptacle to a plurality of mounts, the mounting system comprising:
a socket mating element including a socket and a plurality of retaining arms operable to removably couple with a ball associated with a ball-arm mount; a cable mating element including a curved mounting surface and one or more cable apertures operable to receive a cable to secure the curved mounting surface against another curved surface; a carabineer mating element operable to couple with a carabineer; and a battery cover including—
a base operable to couple with a portion of the electronic device and at least partially cover the battery receptacle, and
a cover mating element operable to couple with the base and interchangeably mate with any one of the socket mating element, cable mating element, and carabineer mating element.
24 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the cover mating element includes protrusions and each of the socket mating element, cable mating element, and carabineer mating element include grooves operable to at least partially receive the protrusions to interchangeably couple with the cover mating element.
