Abstract
A planar illumination device includes at least one light source, a housing structure, at least one light guide plate, and at least one light exiting surface. The at least one light source is received in the housing structure. The housing structure includes at least one light emitting surface through which the light emitted from the at least one light source exits the at least one housing. The at least one light guide plate includes at least one light incidence surface through which the light enters into the at least one light guide plate, and contacts with the at least one light emitting surface. The light exits the at least one light guide plate through the at least one light exiting surface. The at least one light exiting surface includes a plurality of continuously connected bulge points formed thereon.

at least one light source; a housing structure receiving the at least one light source, wherein the housing structure comprising at least one light emitting surface through which the light emitted from the at least one light source exits the at least one housing; at least one light guide plate comprising at least one light incidence surface through which the light enters into the at least one light guide plate, and contacting with the at least one light emitting surface; at least one light exiting surface through which the light exits the at least one light guide plate, wherein the at least one light exiting surface comprising a plurality of continuously connected bulge points formed thereon.
2 . The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one light source comprises at least one light emitting diode.
3 . The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein a bottom end of each bulge point is tangent to a bottom end of an adjacent bulge point.
4 . The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the bulge point gradually decreases from the bottom end of the bulge point towards a top end of the bulge point.
5 . The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the bottom end of the bulge point gradually increases from a position adjacent to the at least one light source towards a position away from the at least one light source.

The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein the housing structure is a rectangular shaped housing; the housing structure comprising a light emitting surface and a reflecting surface opposite to the light emitting surface; the reflecting surface defining a perforation therein for passing pins of an electrical connector therethrough; the electrical connector being configured for electrically connecting the at least one light emitting diode to a power supply.

The planar illumination device of claim 1 , wherein the housing structure is an L-shaped housing; the housing structure comprising of a first housing and a second housing perpendicular to and connected to the first housing; the at least one light source comprising a first light emitting diode array and a second light emitting diode array perpendicular to and connected to the first light emitting diode array; the first and the second light emitting diode arrays being received in the first and the second housings, respectively.

The planar illumination device of claim 7 , wherein the first housing comprises a first light emitting surface; the second housing comprises a second light emitting surface perpendicular to and connected to the first light emitting surface; the at least one light guide plate comprising two light incidence surfaces contacting with the first and second light emitting surfaces, respectively.

The planar illumination device of claim 1 , further comprising a metallic connecting plate, wherein the housing structure comprises a first housing and a second housing parallel to the first housing; the metallic connecting plate being located between and contacting with the first and second housings; the at least one light source comprising a first light source and a second light source electrically connected with the first light source via the metallic connecting plate; the first and second light sources being received in the first and second housings, respectively.

The planar illumination device of claim 9 , wherein the first housing has a light emitting surface and the second housing has a light emitting surface; the light emitting surfaces of the first and the second housings being parallel to each other; the at least one light guide plate sandwiched between and contacting with the first and the second housings; the light guide plate comprising two light incidence surfaces contacting with the light emitting surfaces of the first and the second housings, respectively.

The planar illumination device of claim 1 , further comprising a metallic connecting plate, wherein the housing structure comprising at least one housing being parallel to and connected side by side to each other; the at least one light source being received in the at least one housing, respectively; the at least one light source being electrically connected to each other by a metallic connecting plate; the metallic connecting plate contacting with the at least one housing.
12 . The planar illumination device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one light guide plate is parallel and connected side by side to each other; the at least one light guide plates comprising a light incidence surface contacting with a light emitting surface of a corresponding housing.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
