Abstract

A high definition video transmitter and receiver are disclosed. The transmitter provides high definition video to a one-point receiver or to multipoint receivers. The transmission network is asynchronous and the receiver re-synchronizes the video. The transmission can be wired or wireless.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . In a point to multipoint communication system in which a transmitter clock is to be synchronized to multiple independent receiver clocks:
 (1) starting a retransmission communication session between a transmitter and multiple receivers, (2) thereafter, transmitting an actual value of the transmitter clock from the transmitter to the multiple receivers, (3) thereafter in each receiver, calculating an offset value between the received actual value and the independent receiver clock respectively associated with said each receiver, (4) thereafter in each receiver, normalizing the offset associated with said each receiver to an approximately zeroed condition, (5) thereafter, repeating steps (1) through (4) before any calculated offset value overflows or underflows.

2 . In a point to multipoint communication system in which a transmitter clock is to be synchronized to multiple independent receiver clocks:
 (1) starting a retransmission communication session between a transmitter and multiple receivers, (2) thereafter, transmitting an actual value of the transmitter clock from the transmitter to the multiple receivers, (3) thereafter in each receiver, receiving a measured value of the actual value of the transmitter clock as offset by a measurement error, (4) thereafter in each receiver, estimating the actual value of the transmitter clock by calculating a running average of a set number N of said measured values using N-L-S number of values where L is a number of largest values and S is a number of smallest values of said measured values.

3 . In a point to multipoint communication system in which a transmitter clock is to be synchronized to multiple independent receiver clocks:
 (1) starting a retransmission communication session between a transmitter and multiple receivers, (2) thereafter, transmitting an actual value of the transmitter clock from the transmitter to the multiple receivers, (3) thereafter in each receiver, receiving a measured value of the actual value of the transmitter clock as offset by a measurement error, (4) thereafter in each receiver, estimating the actual value of the transmitter clock by calculating a running average of a set number N of said measured values using N-L-S number of values where L is a number of largest values and S is a number of smallest values of said measured values, (5) thereafter in each receiver, normalizing the offset associated with said each receiver to an approximately zeroed condition, (6) thereafter, repeating steps (1) through (5) before any calculated offset value overflows or underflows.
