Abstract

The invention concerns an ironing appliance comprising a vessel ( 2 ) for producing steam under pressure provided with a filling orifice ( 3 ) closed with a removable plug ( 5 ), characterized in that said plug ( 5 ) is coupled to the end of a tube enclosing the filling opening by bayonet-type fixing means enabling the plug to be rapidly opened and/or closed by a single rotating same for less than one revolution, the plug comprising a clamp including claws urged to be engaged under ramps formed at the end of the tube ( 4 ), the tightness of the plug being provided by means of a seal ( 56 ) borne by a core ( 55 ) which is mobile in rotation relative to the clamp of the plug.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Ironing appliance comprising a tank ( 2 ) having heating means for producing steam under pressure, the tank ( 2 ) being furnished with a filler hole ( 3 ) closed with a removable cap ( 5 ), wherein the cap ( 5 ) is connected to the end of a pipe ( 4 ) surrounding the filler hole ( 3 ) by means of a bayonet type connection allowing rapid opening and/or closing of the stopper ( 5 ) by rotation of the latter through less than one turn, the cap ( 5 ) having a jaw ( 53 ) comprising claws ( 53 A) from engaging under ramps ( 40 ) formed at the end of the pipe ( 4 ), watertightness of the cap being achieved by means of a joint ( 56 ) carried by a core ( 55 ) that is movable in rotation with respect to the jaw ( 53 ) of the cap.

2 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein the diameter of the filler hole ( 3 ) is between 20 and 40 mm.

       3 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein the tank ( 2 ), the filler pipe ( 4 ) and the jaw ( 53 ) are made of stainless steel.

4 . Ironing appliance according to claim 3 , wherein the filler pipe ( 4 ) and the jaw ( 53 ) of stainless steel receive a surface treatment by being covered with Teflon or immersed in a bath comprising tin.

5 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein the watertightness of the cap ( 5 ) is achieved by means of a joint ( 56 ) having a height, in the direction of compression, greater than 4 mm.

6 . Ironing appliance according to claim 5 , wherein the joint ( 56 ) is of silicone or ethylene propylene diene monomer material.

       7 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein said appliance has a base ( 1 ) containing the tank ( 2 ) and fastening means ( 6 ) connecting the cap ( 5 ) to the base ( 1 ) when the cap ( 5 ) is in an open position allowing access to the filler hole ( 3 ).

8 . Ironing appliance according to claim 7 , wherein the fastening means are formed by an articulated arm ( 6 ) connecting the cap ( 5 ) to the base ( 1 ).

9 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein the cap ( 5 ) has a body and a handle ( 57 ) projecting radially from the body of the cap.

       10 . Ironing appliance according to claim 9 , wherein said handle ( 57 ) comes to actuated a safety switch ( 7 ) when the cap ( 5 ) is properly closed.

11 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein said appliance has, at a location at the end of the opening travel of the cap ( 5 ), guiding means ( 10 B) for raising the cap ( 5 ) when the cap is no longer retained on the filler hole ( 3 ) by the connection means.

12 . Ironing appliance according to claim 1 , wherein said appliance has a safety body ( 9 ) preventing opening of the cap ( 5 ) when the pressure in the tank ( 2 ) exceeds a predetermined threshold.

13 . Ironing appliance according to claim 12 , wherein the safety body ( 9 ) includes a finger ( 90 ) being insertable into the handle ( 57 ) when the pressure in the tank ( 2 ) exceeds a predetermined threshold and there is provided a play in the connection of the jaw ( 53 ) relative to the handle ( 57 ).

       14 . Ironing appliance according to claim 13 , wherein the safety body ( 9 ) cooperates with a pressure indicator lever ( 8 ).
