System for handling asynchronous database transactions in a web based environment
Abstract
A system and computer readable medium for handling asynchronous database transactions in a web based environment is disclosed. The system and computer readable medium comprise providing a first ID from a device via a dedicated persistent connection and generating a second ID in an application server upon receipt of the first ID. The system and computer readable medium also include utilizing the first ID and second ID to obtain the appropriate data from a database system and to send the appropriate data to the device. A system and computer readable medium in accordance with the present invention uses a database resource adapter, which runs inside an application server, to generate a socket ID internally for every input transaction running with the dedicated persistent socket connection and also saves the customer-specified client ID for database queue creation and legacy application. This operation is transparent to the customers' client application.

a distributor for receiving and transmitting a plurality of client IDs related to a plurality of transactions; at least one application server for receiving and transmitting a plurality of client IDs to and from the distributor; the at least one application server including a resource adapter, the resource adapter for generating a socket ID for each of the plurality of client IDs; wherein both the client and socket IDs are provided in a message header within the application server, wherein in the message header the socket ID is used to identify a socket name; a gateway for receiving and transmitting the client ID and its associated ID; and a database system which utilizes the client ID and the socket ID to deliver the appropriate data to the distributor based upon the transactions.
2 . The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one application server comprises a plurality of application servers, each server including a resource adapter.
3 . The system of claim 1 wherein the at least one application server comprises one server, the server including a plurality of servant regions, each of the plurality of servant regions including a resource adapter.
4 . The system of claim 3 wherein the at least one application server comprises a plurality of servers, each of the plurality of servers including a plurality of servant regions, each of the plurality of servant regions including a resource adapter.
5 . The system of claim 1 wherein the resource adapter provides the client ID and the generated socket ID in a message header.
6 . The system of claim 5 wherein the first ID and second generated ID are provided in a message header to the gateway.
7 . The system of claim 1 wherein the gateway comprises a TCP/IP gateway.
8 . A computer readable medium containing program instructions for handling asynchronous database transactions in a web based environment, the program instructions for:
providing a first ID from a device via a dedicated persistent connection; generating a second ID in an application server upon receipt of the first ID; and utilizing the first ID and second ID to obtain the appropriate data from a database system and to send the appropriate data to the device; wherein both the first and second IDs are provided in a message header within the application server, wherein in the message header the second ID is used to identify the socket name.
9 . The computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the first ID comprises a client ID and the second ID comprises a socket ID.
10 . The computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the first ID and the second ID are provided in a message header to a gateway.
11 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 wherein the first ID and the second ID are provided in a message header to a gateway.
