Abstract

A circularly shaped weight includes an opening in the center having a handle extending there through. The handle bi-sects the opening and creates equal openings for receiving a hand or foot of the user. The weight is particularly useful for individuals who may be incapacitated by arthritis or other physical ailments that may prevent them from properly grasping a weight. The novel shape is useful in stacking the weights when they are not in use. A plurality of circularly shaped weight may be fastened together via a coupler.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A weighted exercise ring comprising:
an outer ring that a defines a circular opening in the center thereof; and, a handle bisecting said outer ring to separate the circular opening into equal halves.

2 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said outer ring has one of a plastic and rubber coating thereon.

3 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said outer ring has chrome plating thereon.

4 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein the outer ring comprises a rigid plastic shell filled with sand.

5 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said outer ring of the first weight comprises a rigid plastic shell filled with liquid and further including an opening to an interior of the plastic shell and a cover that seals said opening.

6 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 5 wherein said liquid is water.

7 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said outer ring is formed in the shape of one or more selected from a group consisting of a circle and an oval.

8 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said the outer ring of the first weight comprises iron.

9 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 1 wherein said outer ring is hollow and filled with one or more materials selected from a group consisting of sand, shot, and water.

10 . An exercise ring for performing physical fitness exercises and physical therapy exercises, said exercise ring comprising:
an outer ring that defines an interior opening having diameter in a range of between six and twelve inches, and, a handle arranged across the interior opening to divide the outer ring into symmetrical halves.

11 . The exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said outer ring has one of a plastic and rubber coating thereon.

12 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said outer ring has chrome plating thereon.

13 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein the outer ring comprises a rigid plastic shell filled with sand.

14 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said outer ring of the first weight comprises a rigid plastic shell filled with liquid and further including an opening to an interior of the plastic shell and a cover that seals said opening.

15 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 14 wherein said liquid is water.

16 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said outer ring is formed in the shape of one or more selected from a group consisting of a circle and an oval.

17 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said the outer ring of the first weight comprises iron.

18 . The weighted exercise ring of claim 10 wherein said outer ring is hollow and filled with one or more materials selected from a group consisting of sand, shot, and water.

19 . A system of weighted exercise rings comprising:
a first weighted exercise ring an outer ring that defines an interior opening having diameter in a range of between six and twelve inches, and a handle arranged across the interior opening to divide the outer ring into symmetrical halves; a second weighted exercise ring having an outer ring that defines an interior opening in the center thereof and a handle bisecting the outer ring of the second weight, said second weighted exercise ring having a smaller interior opening than the interior opening of the first weighted exercise ring; and, a coupling means that couples the handle of first weighted exercise ring to the handle of the second weighted exercise ring such that the handle of the first weighted exercise ring overlaps the handle of the second weighted exercise ring.

20 . The system of claim 19 wherein said coupling means includes a strip of hook and loop material.
