Active substance combination of licochalcone a and phenoxyethanol

Abstract

A method for the prophylaxis or treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, which method comprises applying to the skin a cosmetic or pharmaceutical preparation comprising licochalcone A and phenoxyethanol. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

1 . A method for the prophylaxis or treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, wherein the method comprises applying to at least a part of the skin of a subject in need thereof a cosmetic or dermatological preparation which comprises an effective amount of an active substance combination comprising
 (a) at least one of licochalcone A and an extract of radix glycyrrhizae inflatae that comprises licochalcone A,   (b) phenoxyethanol, and   (c) optionally, glycerin.   
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein a weight ratio (A:B:C) is a:b:c, where a, b and c independently of one another represent rational numbers of from about 0.001 to about 200 and A represents licochalcone A, B represents phenoxyethanol, and C represents glycerin. 
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein a weight ratio (B+C)/(A*100) is from about 0.5 to about 5,000. 
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the weight ratio is from about 0.1 to about 1,000. 
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.0005% to about 50% by weight of the active substance combination. 
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.01% to about 20% by weight of the active substance combination. 
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.005% to about 0.5% by weight of licochalcone A. 
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.001% to about 5% by weight of phenoxyethanol. 
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.01% to about 2% by weight of phenoxyethanol. 
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.001% to about 30% by weight of glycerin. 
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of glycerin. 
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation further comprises from about 0.001% to about 20% by weight of one or more polyols. 
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the preparation further comprises from about 0.01% to about 10% by weight of one or more polyols. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the preparation comprises an emulsion. 
   
   
       15 . A method for protecting dry and sensitive skin, wherein the method comprises applying to at least a part of the skin of a subject in need thereof a cosmetic or dermatological preparation which comprises an effective amount of an active substance combination comprising
 (a) at least one of licochalcone A and an extract of radix glycyrrhizae inflatae that comprises licochalcone A,   (b) phenoxyethanol, and   (c) optionally, glycerin.   
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein a weight ratio (A:B:C) is a:b:c, where a, b and c independently of one another represent rational numbers of from about 0.001 to about 200 and A represents licochalcone A, B represents phenoxyethanol, and C represents glycerin. 
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein a weight ratio (B+C)/(A*100) is from about 0.5 to about 5,000. 
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.0005% to about 50% by weight of the active substance combination. 
   
   
       19 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.005% to about 0.5% by weight of licochalcone A. 
   
   
       20 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the preparation comprises from about 0.001% to about 5% by weight of phenoxyethanol.
