Preservative compositions for materials and method of preserving same

Abstract

Preservative composition for various materials and method of preserving the same is disclosed. The preservative composition includes at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon solvent containing molecules of at least five carbon atoms.

1 . A hydrophobic product comprising:
 a cellulosic material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said cellulosic material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         2 . A hydrophobic product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         3 . A hydrophobic product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         4 . A hydrophobic product as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material. 
     
     
         5 . A hydrophobic wood product comprising:
 a wood material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said cellulosic material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         6 . A hydrophobic wood product as set forth in  claim 5  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         7 . A hydrophobic wood product as set forth in  claim 5  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         8 . A hydrophobic wood product as set forth in  claim 5  wherein said silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material. 
     
     
         9 . A hydrophobic paper product comprising:
 a paper material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said cellulosic material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         10 . A hydrophobic paper product as set forth in  claim 9  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         11 . A hydrophobic paper product as set forth in  claim 9  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         12 . A hydrophobic paper product as set forth in  claim 9  wherein said silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material. 
     
     
         13 . A hydrophobic drywall product comprising:
 a drywall material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said drywall material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         14 . A hydrophobic drywall product as set forth in  claim 13  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         15 . A hydrophobic drywall product as set forth in  claim 13  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         16 . A hydrophobic drywall product as set forth in  claim 13  wherein silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material. 
     
     
         17 . A hydrophobic masonry product comprising:
 a masonry material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said masonry material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         18 . A hydrophobic masonry product as set forth in  claim 17  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         19 . A hydrophobic masonry product as set forth in  claim 17  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         20 . A hydrophobic masonry product as set forth in  claim 17  wherein said silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material. 
     
     
         21 . A hydrophobic insulation product comprising:
 an insulation material;   a silane complex formed in-situ in said insulation material; and   said silane complex constituting a reaction product of at least one silane-containing material and at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent.   
     
     
         22 . A hydrophobic insulation product as set forth in  claim 21  wherein said at least one hydrocarbon alkane solvent is at least one of pentane, heptane, hexane, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         23 . A hydrophobic insulation product as set forth in  claim 21  wherein said at least one silane-containing material is a chlorosilane. 
     
     
         24 . A hydrophobic insulation product as set forth in  claim 21  wherein said silane complex includes at least one pesticide-containing material.
