Abstract

A hair volumizing device for creating the appearance of added volume to the user's hair that is worn under the hair so it cannot be seen by others. The hair volumizing device comprises a plurality of elongated members, each having a first proximal end and a second distal end, and a flexing mechanism generally at the first ends of the elongated members. In a preferred embodiment, the elongated members are formed in pairs of members each having a first and second elongated member that cooperatively engage each other. The flexing mechanism biases the elongated members together in a closed position and is operated by the user to separate the elongated members to the open position. A textured material or other hair engaging mechanism can help keep the hair in place over the device and a hair extension component can be attached to the device for increased hair length.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A hair volumizing device for use in for adding volume to a section of hair of a user, said hair volumizing device comprising:
a plurality of elongated members disposed generally in side-by-side relation and comprising at least a forward member and a rearward member, each of said elongated members having a first end and a second end; and flexing means disposed at said first end of said elongated members for flexing said elongated members from a closed position wherein at least said second end of a pair of adjoining members are in abutting relation to an open position wherein said pair of adjoining members are in spaced apart relation, said flexing means configured to bias said elongated members in said closed position, wherein said hair volumizing device is sized and configured to be received in the section of hair of the user and worn by the user such that said hair volumizing device is substantially covered by the section of hair so as to appear to add volume thereto without said hair volumizing device being seen.

2 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein each of said elongated members are arcuately shaped.

3 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein each of said elongated members are flexible.

4 . The device according to claim 1 further comprising hair engaging means on an outer face of said forward member for engaging the section of hair of the user generally at the forward member of said hair volumizing device.

5 . The device according to claim 1 further comprising a hair extension component attached to one or more of said plurality of elongated members.

6 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of elongated members comprises one or more pairs of members comprising a first elongated member and a second elongated member, said first elongated member in cooperative arrangement with said second elongated member to engage a portion of said section of hair therebetween.

7 . The device according to claim 6 further comprising a plurality of said pairs of members.

8 . The device according to claim 6 further comprising hair gripping means on an inward face of at least one of said first elongated member and said second elongated member for gripping a portion of said section of hair therebetween.

9 . The device according to claim 1 further comprising hair gripping means on an inward face of at least one of said pair of adjoining members for gripping a portion of said section of hair therebetween.

10 . A hair volumizing device for use in for adding volume to a section of hair of a user, said hair volumizing device comprising:
two or more pairs of members disposed generally in side-by-side relation, each of said pairs of members comprising a first elongated member and a second elongated member and defining a forward member and a rearward member, each of said first elongated members and said second elongated members having a first end and a second end; and flexing means disposed at said first ends of said first elongated members and said second elongated members for flexing said pairs of members from a closed position wherein at least said second ends of said first elongated members and said second elongated members are in abutting relation to an open position wherein said second ends of said first elongated members and said second elongated members are in spaced apart relation, said flexing means configured to bias said pairs of members in said closed position, wherein said hair volumizing device is sized and configured to be received in the section of hair of the user and worn by the user such that said hair volumizing device is substantially covered by the section of hair so as to appear to add volume thereto without said hair volumizing device being seen.

11 . The device according to claim 10 , wherein each of said elongated members are arcuately shaped.

12 . The device according to claim 10 , wherein each of said elongated members are flexible.

13 . The device according to claim 10 further comprising hair engaging means on an outer face of said forward member for engaging the section of hair of the user generally at the forward member of said hair volumizing device.

14 . The device according to claim 10 further comprising a hair extension component attached to one or more of said pairs of members.

15 . The device according to claim 10 further comprising hair gripping means on an inward face of at least one of said first elongated member and said second elongated member for gripping a portion of said section of hair therebetween.

16 . A method of adding the appearance of volume to a section of hair utilizing a hair volumizing device having a plurality of elongated members, comprising the steps of:
 a) squeezing a first end of said elongated members to operate a flexing mechanism and place said hair volumizing device in an open position; b) lifting said section of hair while maintaining said hair volumizing device in said open position; c) directing said hair volumizing device into said section of hair; d) releasing said flexing mechanism to place said hair volumizing device in a closed position and secure said hair volumizing device in said section of hair; and e) lowering said section of hair onto said hair volumizing device to substantially cover and hide said hair volumizing device while being worn by a user to create the appearance of additional volume to said section of hair.

17 . The method according to claim 16 , wherein said lifting step is performed prior to said squeezing step.

18 . The method according to claim 16 further comprising hair engaging means on an outer face of a forward member of said plurality of elongated members for engaging said section of hair generally at the forward member of said hair volumizing device.

19 . The method according to claim 16 , wherein said plurality of elongated members comprises one or more pairs of members each comprising a first elongated member and a second elongated member, said first elongated member in cooperative arrangement with said second elongated member to engage a portion of said section of hair therebetween.

20 . The method according to claim 16 , wherein each of said elongated members are arcuately shaped.
