Abstract
The handheld personal electronic device has a first body having a display, a second body having a plurality of manual inputs, the second body capable of attachment to the first body, the personal electronic device having an open position wherein the display of the first body and the manual inputs of the second body are accessibly exposed. And, the personal electronic device having a closed position wherein the display of the first body is protected by the second body and the manual inputs of the second body are accessibly exposed.
Claims

a first body having a top end and a bottom end; a second body operatively connected to the first body such that the first body slides along the second body and the top end of the first body elevates in transitioning from a closed position to an open position; a wireless transceiver disposed within one of said first body and second body.
2 . The personal communications device of claim 1 wherein the first body includes a display.
3 . The personal communications device of claim 1 further comprising a short range transceiver disposed within one of said first body and said second body.
4 . A personal communication device comprising:
a housing comprising a first body and a second body; a voice transceiver disposed within the housing; a display and a plurality of buttons disposed on the first body; a plurality of buttons disposed on the second body; the first body slidably connected to the second body for transitioning between an open position and a closed position; the display and the plurality of buttons disposed on the first body accessibly exposed for use by an operator both in the open position and the closed position.
5 . The personal communications device of claim 4 further comprising a short range transceiver disposed within the housing.
6 . The personal communications device of claim 4 further comprising a second display disposed on the second body accessibly exposed for use by an operator in the open position.
7 . A personal communication device comprising:
a housing comprising a first body and a second body; a voice transceiver disposed within the housing; a display disposed on the first body; a plurality of buttons disposed on the second body; the first body and second body removably connected; wherein the second body protects at least a portion of the display of the first body in a connected position.
8 . The personal communication device of claim 7 wherein the plurality of buttons includes buttons for dialing.
9 . The personal communication device of claim 8 further comprising a short range transceiver disposed within the housing.
10 . The personal communication device of claim 7 wherein the display is a touch screen display.
11 . A phone, comprising:
a housing having a first body removably connected to a second body; a voice transceiver disposed within the housing; a display disposed on the first body; a plurality of buttons disposed on the second body.
12 . The phone of claim 11 wherein the plurality of buttons includes a dial pad for dialing the phone.
13 . The phone of claim 12 wherein the display is a touch screen display.
14 . The phone of claim 13 further comprising a short range transceiver disposed within the housing.
15 . The phone of claim 14 wherein the second body at least partially protects the display.
16 . The phone of claim 15 wherein the display is at least partially viewable in the connected position.
17 . A phone, comprising:
a housing having a first body removably connected to a second body; a voice transceiver disposed within the housing; a display disposed on the first body; a plurality of buttons disposed on the second body; the display partially viewable; the display at least partially protected by the second body.
18 . The phone of claim 17 wherein the display is a touch screen display.
19 . The phone of claim 17 wherein the plurality of buttons include a dial pad for dialing the phone.
