Abstract
A positioning system for attachment to a vehicle for operation of a power tool by a ground-based operator sitting in the vehicle provides a telescoping mast attached to the vehicle, a pivot bracket connecting an upper arm to the upper portion of the telescoping mast, mounting means for mounting the power tool on the upper arm; and power means for operating the power tool from the operator's position in the vehicle.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A positioning system for attachment to a vehicle for operation of a power tool by a ground-based operator sitting in the vehicle, the positioning system comprising:
a telescoping mast having an upper portion and a lower portion; attachment means for attaching the lower portion of the telescoping mast to the vehicle; a pivot bracket connecting an upper arm to the upper portion of the telescoping mast, the upper arm having a proximate end adjacent the pivot bracket and a distal end distal from the pivot bracket; mounting means for mounting the power tool to the distal end of the upper arm; and power means for operating the power tool from the operator's position in the vehicle.
2 . The device of claim 1 wherein the lower portion of the telescoping mast is attached to a dirt bucket on a tractor.
3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the power tool is powered by a hydraulic motor.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the lower portion of the telescoping mast is attached to a pickup.
5 . The device of claim 4 wherein the power tool is powered by a pneumatic motor.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the lower portion of the telescoping mast is attached to an all terrain vehicle.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the power tool is powered by a pneumatic motor.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the telescoping mast further comprises:
an outer mounting member having at least two bores at the lower end portion of the outer mounting member for attachment of the outer mounting member to the vehicle; a slidably extending inner member disposed within the outer mounting member; a locking pin bore within the outer mounting member; at least two spaced bores in the slidably extending inner member; and a locking pin disposed within the locking pin bore in the outer mounting member and one of the at least two spaced bores in the slidably extending inner member.
9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the telescoping mast further comprises:
a telescoping mast hydraulic cylinder attached at one end to a bracket attached to the outer mounting member of the telescoping mast assembly and at the other end to a bracket attached to the slidably extending inner member of the telescoping mast assembly; and hydraulic lines connecting the telescoping mast hydraulic cylinder to a hydraulic power source on the vehicle.
10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the upper arm is a telescoping upper arm further comprising:
an upper arm outer member; a slidably extending inner member disposed within the upper arm outer member; a telescoping upper arm hydraulic cylinder attached at one end to a bracket on the upper arm outer member and at the other end to a bracket on the slidably extending inner member; and hydraulic lines connecting the telescoping upper arm hydraulic cylinder to a hydraulic power source on the vehicle.
11 . A positioning system for attachment to a vehicle for operation of a power tool by a ground-based operator sitting in the vehicle, the positioning system comprising:
a four-point linkage consisting of a horizontal base attached to the vehicle, a horizontal top, two parallel vertical members, each parallel vertical member pivotally attached at one end to the horizontal base and pivotally attached at the other end to the horizontal top; a telescoping mast having an upper end portion and a lower end portion, wherein the lower end portion is attached to the horizontal top; a pivot bracket connecting an upper arm to the upper end portion of the telescoping mast, the upper arm having a proximate end adjacent the pivot bracket and a distal end distal from the pivot bracket; mounting means for attaching a power tool to the distal end portion of the upper arm; and power means for operating the power tool from the operator's position in the vehicle.
12 . The device of claim 11 wherein the horizontal base of the four-point linkage is attached to a dirt bucket on a tractor.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the power tool is powered by a hydraulic motor.
14 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the horizontal base of the four-point linkage is attached to a pickup.
15 . The device of claim 14 wherein the power tool is powered by a pneumatic motor.
16 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the horizontal base of the four-point linkage is attached to a bale spike frame.
17 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the power tool is powered by a pneumatic motor.
18 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the telescoping mast further comprises:
an outer mounting member having at least two bores at the lower end portion of the outer mounting member for attachment of the outer mounting member to the vehicle; a slidably extending inner member disposed within the outer mounting member; a locking pin bore within the outer mounting member; at least two spaced bores in the slidably extending inner member; and a locking pin disposed within the locking pin bore in the outer mounting member and one of the at least two spaced bores in the slidably extending inner member.
19 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the telescoping mast further comprises:
a telescoping mast hydraulic cylinder attached at one end to a bracket attached to the outer mounting member of the telescoping mast assembly and at the other end to a bracket attached to the slidably extending inner member of the telescoping mast assembly; and hydraulic lines connecting the telescoping mast hydraulic cylinder to a hydraulic power source on the vehicle.
20 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the upper arm is a telescoping upper arm further comprising:
an upper arm outer member; a slidably extending inner member disposed within the upper arm outer member; a telescoping upper arm hydraulic cylinder attached at one end to a bracket on the upper arm outer member and at the other end to a bracket on the slidably extending inner member; and hydraulic lines connecting the telescoping upper arm hydraulic cylinder to a hydraulic power source on the vehicle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
